.Cam Extension: A treasure to be opened or a chest to be thrown back to the sea?
I recently came across the acronym ‘CAM’ and, besides Carrie Ann Moss =), I found out it could also mean “Common Access Method”...
I immediately thought about the scarcity of .Com domains and how “easy” would be to remember ‘Jazz.cam’, (for instance), especially for the general public:
Jazz.com (Currently Parked and Probably Very Expensive)
VS.
Jazz.cam (Available for only $1,700 aprox. and also appropriate for live events)
In your opinion, would a .Cam be as good as a .Com?
Considering the scarcity, price factor, ease of remembrance (through association), and the fact that both extensions would resolve to a website, I believe that branding .Cam as ‘Common Access Method’ would boost sales and give an opportunty to new domainers to tap into this poorly marketed domain extension...
I see that many have already registered various one-keyword domains on this extension, but there are still great names out there like ‘Cars’ and ‘Feedback’, for instance. Some of these domains could be developed into monetized vlogs and some simply could be sold as ‘hacks’ due to their .Com similarity.
Any thoughts?
Thanks/Regards,
