Overture data is based on significantly more data than Wordtracker, which explains why Overture results are usually higher than Wordtracker for the same term. However, quite often it's the other way around - which doesn't make much sense at all. For example right now I'm looking at one term that has Overture of about 80,000/mo. and Wordtracker is almost 250,000/mo. Does anyone have any theories to explain how this is even possible? Or is it a glitch with one or the other? If so, any idea how to tell which is the more accurate number? When in doubt do you just rely on Overture?

Both Overture and Wordtracker are susceptible to glitches which probably explains the example you're looking at.

While it's true that Overture is based on a larger # of searches it is very often less accurate than Wordtracker because Overture does not differentiate between the singular and plural of a keyword/keyword phrase. Overture also doesn't recognize the different order of keywords in a keyword phrase.
