Will TRUMP try to mess with ICANN?

It might seem silly to think right now about what a Trump presidency means for ICANN.
Will he try to pull back control of ICANN at the behest of Ted Cruz? Could he?

Speaking to Scientific American, Robert Atkinson, president of the non-partisan think tank Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF) had this to say:

Could the Trump administration reverse the decision to give the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) autonomy from the U.S. Department of Commerce?

I don’t know if the president has the power to change this, but even if they had the power I don’t think they’d do it. The horse has left the barn. There would be too much outrage on the Hill and internationally. This isn’t a fight they’re going to take on.
ICANN had an agreement with the U.S. government where the government had some control in the background over ICANN’s role of managing the Internet’s domain name system (DNS).

That tether has been cut, but I think the Trump will monitor them to make sure ICANN lives up to what they said they would do and not allow other countries to take a larger role in Internet governance.

What do you think ?

If only. ICANNT only cares about their next lavish meeting in far flung locales. Permanent cushy vacay if you work there as an executive.

A couple months ago there was this thing where ICANN went from US government control to United Nations control. A lot of people wanted to stop it because the UN is big on censorship but it happened anyway.

There are a lot of countries around the world that ban books for political speech. The USA doesn't ban books so you can say anything political on your site you want.

The NSA and CIA gave away the net and made billions.

1. It came out of a NSA project
2. First registrar was NetSol and it was 100% spook owned through SAIC out of San Diego their board is all ex NSA and CIA and SAIC is CIA's backwards.

So they got paid and now ICANN is where it belongs, an international body and the USA now has no control over it.

Boy, it's a good thing that this 'unrelated' trio that always posts within minutes of each other brought up this topic from last year just to say that.
