Hello

I’m going to list my domain for sale on flippa now it’s on it’s own without a website but I’ve seen reports that on flippa a domain has more chance of selling if it has a website hosted on it can anyone tell me if that’s right or will the domain sell well enough on it’s own.

Thanks.

There are domain only sales on Flippa. Not sure if Flippa is the best platform for a domain only sale. I would rather run an auction on Go Daddy where there are more domain buyers.

Hi martr! Welcome to Namepro's! :)

Flippa is an auction marketplace where users sell their sites. The majority of domains sold on flippa are ones which have been developed to some extent and have either a) existing traffic b) a business or niche audience and c) revenue from advertising or product sales/referrals. They are websites sold as a whole, however flippa does sell domains on their own.

I would advise however to look at another auction place if you are looking to sell a single domain as they tend to do not so well in sales and you could lose out if you don't do your research properly.

Have a look around Namepro's and many of the experienced domainers here will give you good advice on where to start.

Good luck!

It is not the best place to sell your domain.
Try SEDO or Godaddy. Or just email endusers.

If the name is premium, it will sell everywhere.
If its crap, it won't sell anywhere.

Flippa is mostly for websites, but i saw domain only sales too.

I tried to sell a domain once at Flippa - with no result, it was semi crap domain.
But using logic - at Flippa there could me more potential endusers, because people who are buying websites (businesses) are rather endusers.

I would not suggest Flippa if the domain is not really good

There have been some big reported domain sales from Flippa actually..Just this month Salinas.com was reported to have sold on Flippa for $60K.

The problem is..You don't see as many good sales coming from Flippa. Usually websites seam to sell better on Flippa than straight up domains do. If anything I would recommend only selling websites on Flippa and using Sedo and other places for domain sales.

Most buyers on flippa are looking for earning potential. Either the property should be earning something or should have some potential to earn in the future.
So even if you make a single page ministe, maybe it will not sell for as much as you expect. But it could potentially earn more than a blank domain name.

Do you still have to pay a listing fee on Flippa if it's only the domain name? I signed up for account but never used it because I know you have to pay a fee for listing websites.

yeah, you still have to pay listing fee, even if it's only a domain sale...

What are flippa fees?

...found it burried. $29 listing fee, and a minimum of $10 final value fee.

Excessive for a domain, but not bad for sites... the only thing is...flippa does not seem to have an abundance of sites for sale, however the prices are pretty high.
