I'm lucky enough to spend my working life helping some of the world's largest brands drive their .brand TLD projects.

The excitement and the challenges of this space stem largely from the fact that this is a new innovation; and when you're working with something truly groundbreaking, naturally there's an element of "learning as you go."

And I'm not afraid to admit, sometimes we get things wrong.

The more I talk to .brand owners, the more they're teaching me where the value of .brands is.

Brands don't need to have their own dot com domain as many brands can be owned by one company and sold through one outlet via the groups main website that sells all its brands via that large website etc

Some brands are just a single brand and thus have their brand as the dot com domain of their brand etc which may suit their brand

But every brand is different and how it operates depends on its owners vision for the brand as brands tend to go bust when either the brand runs out of money or a brands owner loses vision for their brand and or cannot or refuses to adapt to market trends which may differ from the original vision for the brand etc

But brands existed long before domain names and brands will exist long after technology moves on from domain names should it do so
