I'm lucky enough to spend my working life helping some of the world's largest brands drive their .brand TLD projects.

The excitement and the challenges of this space stem largely from the fact that this is a new innovation; and when you're working with something truly groundbreaking, naturally there's an element of "learning as you go."

And I'm not afraid to admit, sometimes we get things wrong.

The more I talk to .brand owners, the more they're teaching me where the value of .brands is.

And newsflash: it's not in domain names.

Domain Expert changed to Head of Professional Services at Neustar

1.) Article and TITLE copied verbatim as per Circle ID.
2.) If the same person used the same title and wrote an article praising .com's you would have gulped it down merrily without looking for some way to discredit the article.
3.) If you have not figured out yet that probably 95% of ALL content published online has a marketing angle or some level of promotion going on then you need to get a serious reality check.
4.) What exactly is your point about him being the Head of professional services at Neustar? https://www.neustar.biz/
- Are you implying that just because he has a senior position in a non-domain related tech company that he can't be a domain expert?

@JB Lions is right. This is marketing fluff.

True.

Whatever they say - if you have a brand, and you don't own the .com, you are losing customers and traffic imho.

But OF COURSE "alternative extensions" are the greatest thing... that's why everyone stopped using .COM decades ago and everyone is now using .WS and .TK now, right? Everyone knows .WS means "website", right? RIGHT???

Hahaha!

So is 95% of all content published...

(This is marketing fluff.) So you choose to promote it here and align yourself with it by doing so and somehow that makes it ok...huh?

One benefit I see in owning a word in the DNS, in the future that word, i.e. microsoft, may resolve without a dot.

Hahaha, absolute hogwash. Typical narrow-minded, one-sided thinking. Let me drop some common sense your way seeing as you are clearly in short supply. This section of the forum is related to domain news, I shared an article that was I felt was newsworthy (doesn't matter if you feel otherwise) - did I state my opinion on the article when I shared? No I did not. When JBLions question certain points of the article I addressed those points...

Like I said repeatedly on this thread almost all content probably 95% of content online has some sort of marketing angle in it, to varying degrees.

Sharing information with fellow domainers, whether I agree with it or not... makes it okay!

You don't like the content, guess what...you not forced to read it... or you can read it and complain about it.

Cry me a river then build a bridge and get over it.

I'm not seeing any actual points being made in this article- there's no substance to it.

It's like saying my football team is rubbish and is generally badly received, so the solution is not to call them a football team anymore. Let's make up another name for what they are. Problem solved right?

It really makes no sense at all. The benefits of referring to .brand domain names in a different way are claimed but not specified.

Exactly what I was going to say about your response, thanks for saving me some time.

I see you still busy crying me a river, you should start building that bridge now...

You know your right deez007, I should build a bridge, a helpful bridge, because I do feel bad for you and your inability to move on.

Perhaps a google search for "letting it all out by crying" or "managing sadness" or even "letting go of nostalgia" may prove helpful to you in your time of need.

I've even heard that wikiHow offers a 14 Step instruction manual describing "How to Cry and Let It All Out" and it even comes with PICTURES so that could be helpful.

In any event, just a few suggestions to help with abandonment issues...good luck champ, we're rooting for you :)

Bwhahah dude, you sound like a 13 year old teenage girl, go listen to some justin beiber or maybe you need a hug or something. I dropped a one liner...you replied back with a long blah blah blah...seems the only that hasn't let go is you...that river is about to burst. lol
