Why Sell at Anonymous Marketplaces?

Why sell your domains at marketplaces where buyers get to remain anonymous? Don't you want to know who you're dealing with? Voluntarily granting buyers anonymity seems foolish to me. If privacy is so important to them and they are serious, let them hire a broker.

I personally don't care if I know or not. And I rarely know. Correctly pricing your domains is vital. If done correctly, who the buyer is won't matter too much. Even with Make Offer, it doesn't matter to me if I know.

Certainly I try to find out, but mostly I just know what I want for domains. I don't really try to set prices based on the buyers financial position.

Could you imagine being charged more for something just because you pulled up in an expensive car?

Cheaper for the people that drive old beaters, and more for people that drive nice cars?

It really doesn't matter to me usually.

I see your point but alot of buyers want to remain anonymous. A buy it now button is much more tempting than haggling. As long as you sell for the price you want the buyer shouldn't be of any importance unless its a for sure high value domain then price it very high and they will have to speak to you or use a broker.

To really make it in domaining nowadays you need a hit one out of the park sale. Or at least, that really helps. Both buyer anonymity and BIN work against said objective.

I recently sold a name for $1200 at Sedo (BIN). When I saw who the buyer was I cried. I really think that would have been my first $XX,XXX sale.

I sold a forex name to a swiss bank a few years ago. I didn't know it was a bank, and I only got $250 for it. I had discussed it on a domain forum previously, and everybody said it was worthless ( a mix of letters and numbers). I think the buyer used a gmail address.
