Why is SEDO so useless when it comes to owner verification?

I've been with Sedo for many years and they didn't improve their owner verification process a bit. A few days ago I added a domain to my account only to be told today by Sedo that they can't verify domain ownership and they deleted it from my account.

This is such an easy issue to fix. They could send an email to the administrator email address that contains a link to click. As you know transfers between registrars are verified this way, which means it is technically possible and probably very easy to implement.

Why is Sedo such a useless company? Why don't they listen to customer feedback? Probably they have build layers of administration where important feedback never gets through to people who make the decisions. I have seen similar problems with other corporate companies.

Because we were unable to verify that you are indeed the owner of the domain, we have
deleted the domain from your Sedo account.

If you are the current owner of the domain and you feel we have made a mistake in our
decision, please send an email to [email protected]. Our staff will then gladly look into this matter further.

ownerverification(at)sedo.com use this if your domains are pending verification more than a day.

I wanted to register sedosucks.com but it appears sedo has registered that domain themselves.

As far as I know Sedo is an icann accredited registrar so they should have their own whois database.

edit:
sedo is listed here as a registrar:
http://www.icann.org/en/registrars/accredited-list.html

You can always set DNS to Sedo, which will almost always speed up the process. Once it is approved, just change DNS to what you want or keep it parked at Sedo.

I do agree Sedo has issues with owner verification. I often sell a domain and forget to remove it from my account, let a domain drop and forget to remove it etc... Then I forget or get to lazy to go and remove it. That is another issue other than what you brought up, but is still a pretty big issue.

Send a screenshot of the whois to the ownerver... email.

Usually works for me.

Cheers!

Maybe this would help everyone, I contacted them about this and here's their reply:

Hello XXX,

Thank you for using Sedo to sell your domain names!

In order to ensure that domains are only listed for sale by their rightful owners, Sedo double-checks the ownership of all newly listed domains. As the domain(s) is currently listed by a different Sedo customer, we cannot confirm ownership at this time.

To clear this up, please do one of the following in order to confirm ownership:

1) Unlock the information at the registrar.
2) Send us a screen shot attachment of your Registrar account containing all of the following information:
domain name
period of registration and expiration date
your contact data matching the data in your Sedo account

Please keep in mind that changes made at the registrar can take up to 72 hours before they reflect. This delay also applies to new registrations.

We apologise in advance for the inconvenience that this causes you, but hope you understand that this check helps ensure a fraud-free and better functioning marketplace for all Sedo users.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Your Sedo Team

Unlock the information at the registrar? What's that?

Hehe, I thought it's just me. I just made my first account there (obviously new at this game) and it took two days to register my account first and now the third day waiting for domain verification. Problem was that I've used VPN when signing up and their server registered my IP in NY. I am traveling Asia and my passport is Serbian. Well, you can imagine the confusion there :p And now I don't want to park with them as I'm not really planning to drag this, want to get rid of few domains and that's it. Speaking of which - can I sell elsewhere while listed on their list (before any offers on those domains)?

@code_geass: Probably private WHOIS option with your registrar.
