Sedo Verification - Why so complex

I list domains at GD and they simply email the address on file in whois and if I click the verification link they list the name.

Sedo thou doesnt do that, they ask I either update / unlock the privacy so they can match it with my account info, OR send a screenshot of my account with my reg showing my info (if I was a scammer or whatever I can make that up in PS in 5 seconds).

I am hoping someone from sedo here reads this and considers doing the simply email verification process gd uses just fine.

If someone here sees why the way they do it is more powerful and secure kindly let me know, I cant understand it and would love to.

Are you talking about names that are already listed / parked on Sedo? I mean are you listing for a special auction or are you just listing them on Sedo? Because I have never been through that with them..

Hi AEProgram,

Just follow these easy steps:

Sometimes Sedo's automatic verification is stuck, or something like that.

First of all, makes sure you had done all these important steps:
1. Temporarily disables your privacy protection during the ownership verification process.
2. Make sure your Sedo contact details match the contact details in the WHOIS records.
3. Set your name servers to NS1.SEDOPARKING.COM and NS2.SEDOPARKING.COM

And if it takes about more than a day to verify a domain, just simply contact Sedo's Customer Support.
Then Sedo will do some manual verification to your domains.

I hope that helps.

Hi AEProgram,

Just follow these easy steps:

thanks, i think they should just do email verification by emailed the domain owner, its simple and thats it

its easy to do what they want if u have a few domains with one registrar but if you have 100's all over the place it becomes a big issue

Most times Sedo will list your domains just by automatically checking your whois info. If you have privacy turned on then you'll have a problem. It has also happened a few times that my whois info is available, but I get the same email you received because somehow sedo's automated whois checker couldn't verify my info for some reason. In that case, I just reply to that same email you received and ask them to manually check my whois data. Usually, I get a follow up email within a few hours notifying me that my domain as been accepted.

YES As I said before I have never experienced anything like that ( and I have nearly 300 names listed there ) so I think in this case the issue is on your side like having a privacy protection on for example.
You can always live chat with them and see if they can solve the problem. If you have privacy protections on though, that's probably the first thing you should remove.

I thought you never got the emails sent to your privacy email at GoDaddy? This is why you need to send Sedo a screenshot.

personally I have never received any email from sedo..I have always added my names and they have always automatically verified them

I literally added a domain to sedo 2 mins ago and it has verified it from the whois automatically already.

For me sometimes they don't ask if you have your domain parked there. They can tell it's you by looking at the nameservers. You could try that.
