Why is my name being auctioned on GoDaddy?

I don't understand this. I bought a name that dropped yesterday cheaply and now I see it on godaddy auctions. It's priced close to $2,000 too. I checked my godaddy account and the whois data just to make sure I actually did buy it, and indeed I did. What's going on, and what happens if someone bids?

Most likely it's a listing by the previous owner.

Send an email to auctions AT godaddy.com and request that they remove the listing. I'd recommend doing it soon.

Seems to now have been removed without me having emailed them.

Good that it was removed, maybe there was some sort of glitch while you were in the process of becoming the new owner. Like Forge mentioned as well maybe it was a listing from the previous owner.

When something like that does happen and it seems like it is not being resolved by itself like it did indeed happen you are better off calling Godaddy as they can resolve the issue right away instead of waiting for an email response back and forth.

often, it is also because of Afternic.

Afternic listings show on Godaddy Auctions.

I search to see if listed on afternic too, and if it is, I ask them to remove it from the previous owners portfolio.

I know, even years after selling the name, the domain still show up for sale on various sites - and buyers keep asking you to remove it...
