Here is the thing. I backordered a domain name which dropped today with godaddy. Around 4pm I saw that the register was wild western domain and I relief and thought, at least I can bid. Coz as far as I know, wild western domains are the reseller of godaddy.

However, I just checked my backorder panel and saw that the capture failed and the domain name is already in use.

Did anyone encounter this problem? I mean, the reseller should use the same backorder system as godaddy, right? How could godaddy lost to its reseller?

Any idea?

I think you will find the reply is somebody registered the domain by hand in the exactly split second before GoDaddy had a chance to backorder it. At least that was what I've been told when my backorders have failed to capture the domains and they were re-regged at GoDaddy. Incredible I know. But there you have it. You should ask them why your backorder failed but the domain was regged at Wild West. I'm 100% sure they will give you that answer. It just goes to show how unreliable their backordering system is. If they can be beaten by a hand-reg.

Yes, Wildwest is the reseller arm of GoDaddy.

When you check the whois, look at the date. If the original registration date is there, it might mean the owner renewed it.

For the first reply from Godaddy, they just simply said that they are sister company then included some generic information about backorder.

I've heard that before. Sounds incredible. Looks like I've just been unlucky. The other day, I backorder another domain name with namejet, pool and snapname in order to make sure that I will have a bid. However, that one was latter registered by some Korea company who looked like snapped by its own platform. Gosh, three main backorder service provider lost to a unknown provider. Now, the similar thing happened again.

No problem, wild western is Godaddy company so domain was caught by Godaddy. However, probably you are not the only backorder customer. They will put you in a private auction. Good luck there.
