GoDaddy Partner With SnapNames?

Hey NP'rs,

I was looking at some of my domains i had dropped earlier this year and just happened to whois one such domain that i had had at godaddy.
In whois records it shows with registrar as GD
Status: HOLD, PENDING DELETE SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE

But i wanted this domain back so i went through GD auctions & also through the drop list but couldn't find it.

After searching for a while, i found the domain available on Snapnames for bidding.

How did this happen? Also wanted to know if there was a way to know how many bids are there in a snapnames auction? And if there are no bids, what happens to the domain?

Thanks in advance...

The name is in pending-delete, at this point it cannot be retrieved by the registrar. It's scheduled for deletion. Any dropcatcher can try to catch it... even godaddy. You could even place a backorder at godaddy for that name...

Thanks but would it help? As in using godaddy against snapnames?
Will the domain dropping from godaddy help me able to catch it using GD backorder?

Also wanted to know why the name didn't go through TDNAM?

Godaddy backorders are better than a hand-reg, but that's about it in my experience.

It probably did already, and you missed it.

If nobody picked it up at TDNAM even at the lowest rate before it went pending delete, then likely you might be able to hand reg it or just use godaddy again to backorder it.

But if the name is really important to you, then you should backorder it everywhere. The other dropcatchers will beat Godaddy to the drop and you'll pay the higher price.

Because you searched too late. The domain is under the registrars control until day 45 after expiry. Thats why all registrars will auction the domain before day 45, usually closing at day 42. You should have checked the domain at godaddy on day 25 after expiry.

Once the domain reaches pending delete which usually happens on day 72, it will show up on all pending delete lists regardless where it is registered. You can see all pending delete lists at snapnames or namejet. If you checked namejet too you would see that your domain shows up there as well.

No, not with pending deletes.

It did but you couldn't find it because godaddys website is rubbish. There are two ways to follow: Either open the domain and click the link that says buy at auctions or follow this link while replacing example.com with actual domain:
https://auctions.godaddy.com/trpItemListing.aspx?domain=example.com

Remember to check the domain between day 25 and 35 after expiry. Do NOT search at godaddy website. Their site is rubbish.

Thanks for the advice guys. Well actually i got an inquiry for the domain i let expire today. So i rushed to check if i can get it back.
I'll probably backorder it through GD. Though most probably if the domain didn't get picked up at TDNAM, then i doubt it'll go at snapnames, but you never know.

Btw any backorder coupon codes for GD? Got one 30% off code that works...

if it already dropped, then order from snapname as well.

In case you missed my earlier reply, Godaddy backorders really suck. You're better off trying at Snapnames, Namejet and Pool.

Thanks guys for all the help. GD caught my name for me.

GD caught my name for me.

I occasionally use GD backorders for domains of modest value.
since a discount code can get the backorder cost down to about $14, I see the backorder as "reg fee plus a $5 convenience fee". I don't have to worry about being online when a name drops, or even know what day it will drop.
