Maybe this question has been asked before — I’m not sure what others think about it.

I feel the domain industry should have a social-media-style mobile app. Platforms like NamePros feel like old-school forums. Navigation is difficult, and often you don’t know where to go.

A 20-year-old thread can get updated and suddenly appear pinned at the top.

It’s also hard to easily discover what people are currently sharing, apart from domain sales and auction posts.

There’s no global feed page where you can quickly see fresh activity across the community.

I’m not blaming NamePros — but there really isn’t any modern alternative either.

I’m a developer, and I’ve been thinking about building a social media app specifically for domainers. I know it won’t be easy.

What do you think about this idea?
Would you actually be interested in using such an app?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Right, but to do what exactly there? What would be the purpose?

On NP, I can spend hours because here is tons of valuable information. I work on a computer with a proper keyboard, switching between screens. I can't imagine doing the same on a mobile app.

Or an app would make sense if you need to check something 50 times a day, but the nature of domaining is quite the opposite.

And if the goal is to chat and exchange news, we could just create a Telegram group and invite everyone - five minutes of work, zero cost.

I will be honest here, my personal thoughts only.
As a domainer, my top priority is to sell my domains.

To sell domains we have Atom, Afternic, Sedo like marketplaces. To discuss & sell, NamePros like forums here.
To connect domainer to domainer, its doing here. NP is mixed sales posts + updates. Its doing better then most other forums.

If any helpful new features, platforms are there to get more focus to my domains, ready to support (y).

You can discuss on twitter , facebook ...
Domain buyers are no longer using Squadhelp.com or Sedo.com (1and1 company). Both platforms have become obsolete.

Yes, I agree. Sedo become old. I quoted as these are marketplaces.
To connect domainers to domainers, NP is the good one for now.
If any new platform there to get more useful and focus to our domains sales, its good thing and we support!

Hahaha, Vadim are u kiddin'?

No. The discussion isn't about how good, bad, useful, or useless NP by itself is - it's about comparing NP with a new potential app. And in that comparison, NP would win by a country mile, in my opinion.

NP is a trusted junction where people from most major marketplaces and registrars are actively engaging with the investors. And all kind of domain news from trusted places are being posted and discussed here everyday. Many people arent just using NP for buying/selling but to get updated themselves about latest things in the market and share their ideas, opinions with other domainers. This forum is filled with members who are 20+ years old.

Any copy of NP will only fail, filled with spammers and scammers.

You can try something different in the domaining but replacing NP will become just a fantasy.

You don't need an app.
If you need to know something just ask your wife. Trust me on this one.

I always have this idea that namepros have to transform to reddit like forum app!

There are feeds; they're just aren't modern feeds.

Hopefully our forum software will improve that.

If not, maybe Claude Code will do it for us. :)

I think that developing a mobile app would be a good learning experience. It could help enhance your resume and give you something to discuss during technical interviews.

From a business perspective, however, I'm not convinced that there's a market for another domainer community.

I think the challenge is not building an app it’s achieving critical mass. A community platform only works if major investors, marketplaces, and industry voices actively participate. Without that network effect, even good UX won’t sustain it.

This forum is unusable. The navigation is hard, the UI/UX is terrible, and the mods are tyrants.
Some users are harming the business by filing false complaints out of envy and their own inferiority complex.
I'm logging out forever.

Goodbye.
