Hey guys,

I have been watching a particular domain for quite some time now. It shows it expired May15, which is almost 1 month ago, but still shows the whois info for the previous owner, and I can't seem to register it. It is registered at godaddy.com.

Any ideas?

it means it's locked to avoid domain registrar change by either the previous owner or gd itself.

Thanks. So, is there any idea on when it might become available to register again, for me?

that's a difficult question to answer, to be sure you might need to back order the domain but if the previous owner remembers to renew it on some reasons, you lose.
even gd's terms on it has already expired:

If your domain registration expires, weโ€”the domain registrarโ€”attempt to automatically renew it for you. If that fails, we send you up to three expiration notifications by email. Following the third and final auto-renewal attemptโ€”12 days after the domain registration has expiredโ€”the domain enters a redemption period, during which you may retrieve your domain name for an additional fee and renew it by contacting customer support. The redemption period lasts 30 days.

One week into the redemption period, the expired domainโ€”assuming that its registration has not been renewedโ€”is placed into a 10-day domain auction, allowing prospective registrants to bid on the domain. The winner of the auction obtains the domain registration ownership two weeks after the auction end date if the original owner fails to renew the domain by the end of the redemption period.

Once the redemption period endsโ€”and the domain has neither been renewed nor obtained through auction or backorderingโ€”the domain is deleted at the registry. The domain name re-enters the public pool of available domains, and it is no longer redeemable.

you might want to send an email about that domain to [email protected] they will answer back

i think it's already on domain auction, i might be wrong do a search on the said domain on https://www.tdnam.com/ see if it's there. hth
