.mobi WHOA!! Wait a minute, I thought Google was backing .mobi??

Another questionable move which leaves me wondering..., "Have we been duped??"

This was released today about google entering the domain name registaration business, but only registering four suffixes: .COM, .NET, .BIZ, and .INFO.... WHAT?!?! :yell:

I would think if they were truly trying to push mobile internet forward by investing in dotMobi, the least they can do is offer to register the damn .mobi domain names.

Something smells funny.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - Google Inc. on Friday will join the crowded field of services registering Web site addresses in a move aimed at encouraging more usage of the online search leader's free software products.

The Mountain View-based company is offering its latest service in a partnership with GoDaddy.com and eNom, two of the many administrators that help Web sites officially register their names under domains like ".com" and "net."

Google's service will charge a $10 annual fee and only handle addresses ending in four suffixes — ".com," ".net," ".biz" and ".info." There are more than 250 other suffixes in the Internet's master directories.

Web sites that register their domains through Google will be automatically set up to work with several other company products, including e-mail, calendaring and instant messaging. The configuration won't prevent the Web sites from using services offered by Google rivals like Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO - news), Microsoft Corp. and Time Warner Inc.'s AOL.

Google isn't going to interfere with its own operational agendas just to support .MOBI.
It wouldn't make sense for any registrar to make .MOBI available for $10/year when .ORG isn't even available.

It is not that hard to understand. Google is an important backer of the .mobi TLD, when they are going to show the world .mobi is existing, they will do this all at once, not step by step. Google offering domains for registration is just such a small step for such a huge company. They will use another 'event' to show the world .mobi can be used. etc.

So please, do not worry my dear dotmobi lovers....Just be patient.

Moreover, just think about this: when Google identifies itself with dotmobi (by sponsoring the MTLD), then they are bound to market the .mobi domain.

When I come to think of it: Question yourself this. Would Google (and also all other sponsering companies) form an alliance, and subsequently fail to make it a succes? NO

So do NOT panick when you read such articles. Just think logical and keep developing your dotmobi's instead of spending time on spreading these so-called bad newsarticles!!
