We have an evaluation thread, and a sales report thread, however we do not really know who has what.

I was wondering who everyone thinks has the best portfolio.
Please post details of your LLLL.com portfolio in the form

4 Premiums: xx
Easily Prononcables: xx
3 Premiums: xx
Best LLLL.com:
Comments on why you feel your portfolio is the best: Blah Blah Blah
Comments on the portfolios of others: Blah Blah Blah

This is the info that I feel will best allow us to evaluate the quality of our portfolios. It is all good having 10000 rubbish LLLL.com, but personally Id prefer 100 good names.

Ill post info on my portfolio when I am back (in about 15 mins)

Thanks guys, This should be interesting.
Tom

I'd be really interested in knowing which NPer has made the largest ROI with LLLL.coms so far.

A millionaire dropping 10k on LLLL.coms and making 200k off of it just isn't as interesting a story as the guy who only had $100 of disposable income and somehow turned that into $10,000 buying, selling, and trading his way up...

I managed to do pretty well out of LLLL.coms - picked up several hundred all premium combinations at the end of 2006 for regfee and sold them on pretty quickly - mainly to other NP users, some of whom have been mentioned in this thread already :).

With hindsight I sold at the wrong time but it was a relatively risky venture when I bought them and I wanted a quick return on what was then a pretty big/scary outlay on my credit card. I still have around 50 nice LLLL.coms and a bunch of other good domains I bought with the proceeds of the sales so I'm happy, still kick myself occasionally as I'd be sitting on at least $100k if I'd sold them today.

Now, thanks for all the inputs. The discussion here is quite interesting.
Frankly, I did not know that you tzsxc are Thomas. I am very impressed by your portfolio. I was very bothered seeing so many times your name associated with some of the best names around.

Hmm, it is like you are talking about me. Well, I think Reece, you just challenged me to reply to your post.

I don't think I made a great job, but it is very true, that I started domaining with $20 back in late March. As incredible it seems to most of you, this was all the money I could put apart from my $150 monthly salary back then.

And because of this lovely Namepros community, whom I have to dedicate a lot, I ended up living decently now, and being able to buy $xxxx domains.

I am a member here from January, soon I will be a member for 1 year. In the first two months I read everything I could, and bought nothing. I had no money to even buy a $7 domain because on winter the expenses are bigger. So I tried to make 425 NP$'s in the incentive forum till March. I did not succeed, but as spring came I had some money, and bought 3 domains (one LLLL, and two cctld's). My first LLLL.com was RFVO.com and I sold it to NameMedia for $35 later. I had a bit bigger luck with the two third level cctld's that I sold for $500 on DS. So I had money to start with, and decided to put it back into LLLL's. And with similar sales to NameMedia and another big buyer (who would like to remain anonymous), I ended up having quite a decent portfolio.

At the end of May, I spent almost 10 hours daily for available LLLL's and flipped them even if just for some $$ profit. And I reinvested every money I had, because I started seeing that domaining is a profitable thing.

So, by November I quitted my job (anyway it was not high paying) and I dedicated all my time to domaining. From May till November I flipped more than 250 LLLL's and made quite a decent profit (of course I reinvested everything).

Today, I have only 160, and plan to stay with the 40 I like most (DNHM, SMNO, HXHH, ZNEH, HNLH, VVIH, UKgj etc). I will need a new challenge for myself, but I can tell you that in the past weeks, when I made a sale, I sold $3800 in domains. Probably I would have sold more if I could have accepted paypal, but I had to sell them cheaper. Aside of LLLL's this week I made a bulk deal with NameMedia, and I sold a domain I hand regged in August for $1k to another domainer, so I stay quite well.

Plus I expect I will sell 120 of my LLLL's for a decent profit, so at the end of this selling spree, I will have a bit more than $10k, almost all made from LLLL.com's. And some cctld's.

Maybe for many of you guys $10k is not more but for me it is the possibility of a new startup. I plan to reinvest in premium LLLL's, and in one generic domain.

I don't think LLLL's are the only way to go. In fact I see many headless buyers buying up domains without any meaning for $xxx. It is just not the best timing. One needs to analyse the market and always think twice before investing. Domaining is a world full of possibilities, but if you take a look at obscure domain forums you will see people asking $xxx.xxx for domains that are worth practically $0.

That to be said, I have to thank Namepros for everything I made thus far. And to thank much for all the people who helped me by contributing to its quality.

But, overall I do not look at myself as being a wise investor. I could have turned that $20 much better. And I know that there are people here who invested wiser.

I cannot stay too much time in a boat, and you guys will see me contributing less in the LLLL threads, as I will change my strategy and will focus on end user type domains. I already have more than 80 keyword combo domains, and I got quite a nice offer from a big domainer for them, but I will hold onto them, and will go on the hard route of end user searching.

But I think now I am quite off-topic with my future plans, and it is not related completely to LLLL's. I wish everybody best luck, and sorry for posting so long, and maybe not so coherent but I am a bit drunk. Hope my English was quite coherent.

See you.

Hey Alex, ร  la vรดtre! Have another drink from me.

That was a great read and an inspiring story for many of us new to domaining. I am sure it will be referred to when someone is in doubt that you can pierce through in this industry. I hope you will continue to be successful and show us all what is there for who can grab it.

This means that you are an excellent domainer. You have my respect

Alex, you inspired me back when you told me that story a month or so back and I'd really love to hear more stories like that!

Any fool can do like me, chance 10k+ on LLLL.coms and wind up with a huge profit and pretend they're "super domainers"... All it really takes is the balls (really big balls :D ) to put your money where your mouth is...

That's not to say that some of us didn't carefully calculate our moves or aren't super domainers... But the notion that one is better because they've made more money is one belief I've never come to accept -- I still think some of those "legendary domainers" are washed up 90s has-beens.

What you did on the other hand, is nothing short of exceptional. Could you have done better? Sure. But we could all have done better... I'll never forget making a list of triple premium LLL.mobis and NNN.mobis I was planning to register on .mobi landrush and then for some odd reason, not following through with it... That mistake cost me $100,000+ ...

It did teach me a valuable lesson though -- Don't second guess yourself and if your gut tells you yes and your brain says maybe, hedge your bet rather than avoiding it entirely...

This wasnt meant to be extremely informative, rather simply interesting.
Turns out to have been actually quite informative so far, as well as "simply" interesting!

Weeeell .... I'll just add my 2 cents here now - the pride of my portfolio includes the 7 "buyout babies" anchoring my sig (regged in the frenzied final minutes of the November 2nd event: XVQG ~ XJVQ ~ XVQD ~ XJQV ~ XVQB ~ XQVB ~ XVQT) - and also now VQXZ (a rare "pure" uber-anti-premium recently pried loose from the vaults of a reclusive Norwegian collector known as "the Vacuum Cleaner" ...)

point being perhaps that making a bit of money is great, but having fun while doing so is even better.

Haven't added it all up yet, but I think I've put about $4000 or $5000 into LLLL.com since starting in September ... a bit more than I originally intended to, but sure glad I did now. In the last month have cashed out maybe $1500, and will probably have to rustle up another $3000 or so over the next few weeks ... Hopefully even then still have left more and "better" names than I had as of November 2nd - about 100. And along the way I've managed to even pick up at least one with decent "deep pocket" end user potential ... so, possibly just one of my 100 "fine art lottery tickets" may actually end up paying for all the rest several times over. :)

Amazing stuff Alex, and quite coherent. I am sure it's just the beginning of more great success with your domaining ... And somehow I suspect that LLLL will continue to play a good part in your investment strategy, as the rollercoaster rolls on in the years to come ...

That's awesome. Hard to get that kind of ROI. Good luck in your domaining.
