with threads like :

what is your best .in domain name?
Happy 2006! What was your first reg for the new year?
What site will you be developing in '06? (primarily)
What was your last reg for 2005??
What is your favourite website that you OWN?
What was your BIG MISS of 2005???
What is a good domainer?

all on the 1st page, is it simply that niche markets are in everyones interest now or has general discussion been played out ..??

no disrespect to any of the thread starters but I for one spend very little time surfing the general discussion forum nowadays based mainly on the kind of threads above...

maybe there should be a "what did you blah blah blah" forum ?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
Once the Holidays and New Year's etc. have passed (at least FOUR of the ones you've mentioned above specifically relate to 2005/2006) ... we'll be back to business as usual, IMHO. :gl: :talk:

PS. Happy New Year, Ian! :p :great:

See you soon.

its just cause its the end of the year.... everyone has their preference and nobody really rules the discussion here... its free discussion.

Hi Badger,

I noticed you joined in 2004, these are the sort of topics that crop up on a regular (ish ) basis ... Think back to when you first joined, at that point did you take part in these discussions ?

I know I did, remeber that this is a forum with new people joining all the time and they WILL go over the same topics as old hands used to .... Much the same as when we all joined we probably asked questions or started threads that the older members thought ' not again '.

It just shows that there is new blood, which is always a good thing otherwise we could get set in our ways :)

All the best.

Richard
PS
Nice beer :)

Sure, though im not saying its a good or a bad thing..??

All i was saying is, this forum has grown into so many niche areas in the time ive been here, maybe the main discussion forum has now since run its course.. i.e. Im into dot tv and now we have a specific forum whereas previously i would have posted any comments on this in the main discussion forum..

That would be akin to political discussion having run its course. And just like politics sometimes you have to answer some dumb questions and put up with some BS but so far this is the best solution we have. :)

lol , Yeah - It does get a little tiring seeing the same "new" Questions being asked over and over ...... And I sometimes think it is getting worse in that section as well - But you also have to remember , There are more people in here to ask those questions now as well .....

I do feel about half of the threads are more suited for "Domain Newbies" or "Break Room" most times though ....

I view the threads that you have mentioned as "light entertainment", (although, what's entertaining to one, may be monotonous and unneccessary to another.) For the most part, these are "year enders" that come out during a time when people reflect and try to make some sense out of the past year and take a look ahead at what might be in store for them in the year ahead.

This is a time of year for
"The Best", The Worst",
"The Last", and "The First."
A time to gather our reflections,
A time for setting new directions.

I truly love the holiday seasons
Although some might say for self-serving reasons
You see, while others are wrapped up in the holiday fun
I sit, patiently, waiting to spring an end-run.
When the revelers become tired and are ready to flop
It's time to visit Snapnames, to win that big drop.
:hehe:

Thank you, Jeff. Thankyou Egnited. I know I shouldn't be giving away trade secrets like this but, alas, what can I say? The holidays, simply, have the effect of drawing out my altruistic side. :xf.love:

I dont think it has run its course, as the domain name business is still very strong.
Actually IMO, the topics were quite related to this forum because we were entering into a new year. and was a way for domainers to simply post want they got/had/plan
to do etc. newbies or not they were relevant questions.

Also, if a "MOD" thinks the thread belongs in a different section they can simply move it. Right ?

Mike is here, Mike is there
His posts crop up almost everywhere,
Hes never one for being over simplistic,
And uses words like altruistic,
Hes loves a small flame and can provide the stoker,
And still remains calm despite the one they call "the Joker" D-:
