Hey,

I'm currently setting up a new web hosting company based in the UK, im using WHMCS as my order system and under domain registrars it has the following API's:
RegisterFly
Enom
Directi
Stargate

I signed up to Stargate Domains... but it seems really complicated for what i want and includes lots of things that i don't actually need, their support also seems a bit iffy... Live Chat i get no response from even though its set to online... i left a message last night and still no reply.

So has anyone had experience from the others? Or if not can anyone reccomend any other domain reselling services that don't need any up-front payment to start?

Regards,

Sam Cleaver

So... has anyone had any experience with any of the above?

Registerfly are almost defunct, and even if they make it through, stay clear.

Enom I used for several years. I'm an ETP reseller, but I no longer use them for my own domains. I still have the ETP account as I have several sub-resellers. I can hook you up with an $8.95 reseller account(My ETP is limited to $8.95 sub-resellers) under mine for free. Enom require you to fund it with $100 before you can use it. Some folks here will still be under the old rules of Enom and be able to create you a $7.95 account, just ask around. There are also some "old" $6.95 sub-reseller accounts being sold for around $200. Check WHT forums they are posted there quite often.
If you don't mind having a reseller above you in the chain then buying a reseller can save you a fortune.

Or another option is to purchase a different hosting software and you get a free $7.95 enom reseller account from them. I know of 2 off hand who do this. AWBS and modernbill..

Enom tell me I can't create 7.95 accounts as the rules have changed, but they still allow AWBS, modernbill etc to do so... not really a level playing field anymore, so forget the ETP option and go for a sub-reseller.

i have used all the above and personally i prefer Enom's API and interface BUT
i currently use Stargate as i can get a better deal with them, i have used them for a while and currently have no intentions of changing, i had one drama with an error that related to their API which they fixed within a day of me telling them about it (the fix killed my script tho :( lol)

so i would go with either Enom or Stargate

if you signup through the thread at webhostingtalk (hope im allowed to post that..) you get the .com's .net .org's and .biz for $6.95 or $5.95 transfer and .info's are $1.95

yer i wasnt to keen on their interface but im used to it now and while i prefer enom's interface i am quite happy using Stargate overall

Registerfly is having some huge internal problems right now. Stay clear of them.

eNom's reseller program is top-notch, though you need a sizable deposit to get the best prices with them. Their API is excellent, support is decent, pricing is good. We use eNom's reseller program to sell domains here on NamePros. My complaint with them is their inflexibility with pricing on .INFO .US and .NET domains.

DirectI's ResellerClub.com offers good pricing and a nice interface and reseller program, but I choose not to do business with them any more than I have to, for ethical reasons.

I also resell with WildWestDomains, which is GoDaddy's reseller program, but don't recommend it unless you want something oversimplified. Reporting sucks and it's hard to compete with GoDaddy themselves sometimes when you're offering the same services at equal or higher prices.

I have no experience with reselling at StarGate. I heard they had some security issues a while back.

Good luck!

RJ

Thanks guys :) I think i'll probably go with Stargate for now until i can get enough money for a decent deposit at Enom ^^

I was reading some reviews on RegisterFly... its certainly... a predicament :P
