Hello Everyone,

Currently, I order domain names via hostgator and I have also not experienced any problem any time. I still want to confirm whether I am in the right place or if I can do anything better. Please help if you know it.

Thank You

HostGator is $15 per year for domains?

You can get $10 or cheaper domains at: Name.com, Namecheap, Godaddy, Dynadot, etc. Cheaper still if you use a coupon. I would recommend these over hostgator.

Personally, I wouldn't register my domains at a company whose primary business is hosting.

You always hear stories of people who encounter hosting issues, then having their domains held hostage.

Not saying Hostgator does this, but generally most webhosts who offer domains are resellers, and there can be problems getting your domains out should you cancel your hosting plans.

Hello Everyone,

My question is still unanswered. The question was whether it is good to register domain names with Hostgator. Hostgator charges few bucks. Few bucks can be ok if there is the guarantee that quality and commitment will not be compromised. Please answer if you know.

Thank You

I think the quality would be severely compromised if they held your domains hostage over a hosting dispute. Me personally, I'd transfer my domains to one of the registrars mentioned above. Save a few bucks and have the peace of mind that they cannot block your domains if you ever have a dispute over their hosting (it happens). In fact it's a strict rule for me to always separate my hosting from my domain registrar because you have more control of the outcome in any dispute. You just need to change the nameservers to your new host. But if the host doesn't let you manage (or transfer) your domains because of a dispute over hosting, you're f***ed big time. They have you over a barrel and the only thing you can do is pay whatever they ask (whether you agree or not). Does that answer your question?

I think it is a good, but not be able to avoid numerous spam, if you don't mind these problems, so it is good.

My personal Top-5 registrar:
1, Namecheap
2, Godaddy
3, Name
4, EuroDNS
5, Joker

I do NOT suggest the following domain registrars:
1, 1and1
2, Register

Hope it helps ;)

They're cheap. Which is why spammers love them. There are a lot of spammers using internet.bs. This might not matter to you, but imagine if you are trying to pitch a quality domain name to somebody. They might be put off if the domain is at a cheap spammers registry rather than at GoDaddy (the biggest) or at a quality registrar like eNom, Dynadot, Name, Moniker, Fabulous etc. (apologies if I left any other big quality registrars out. I was only giving a few examples).
