I am currently parked with Sedo. I have a couple of names that get decent traffic, like 5-6 views a day, but I am only making a couple of cents if anything. It is a lack of "clicks" that is killing me. The adverts on the Sedo parked pages are lame. Where do you suggest I move to? I am new to domaining so, I want to move somewhere with little hassel and great customer service as I am sure that I will have a lot of transfer/parking questions. Thank you for your help

i don't like sedo parking at all, unless i want to sell something.
bodis is ok, but each domain is different sometimes you will great success with one domain parker and others not, so you should always test different parking services.

I don't like Sedo, painful interface, too long payment delay. Afternic is no longer worth the subscription, I have recently moved my names from there to Bodis.com where at the exception of some 'bugs' the ppc results seem to be promising.

Thank you everyone. I do have 2 names with Bodis, but I have a quick question. I redirected the nameservers from Sedo to Bodis, but the landing page still shows as Sedo and I am still collecting hits from Sedo. What is up with that? Wouldn't changing the nameservers be enough? Thank you

It may take some time to update the name servers.

If your traffic is primarily from the US/Canada, why not try parked.com? Their twice monthly payments make it more attractive. Besides, they have a Yahoo feed. Yahoo feeds pay much better than Google on most keywords except adult.

I have Domains at Parked, Fabulous, Namedrive, WhyPark and Bodis. How's that for making it easy for you to choose! Don't put all your eggs in one basket, but you don't necessarily need that many baskets either.

Any of the names mentioned in this thread have merit. Depends a lot on your domains.

I must agree with Varon. Parking companies that use yahoo based feeds have a much better CPC. On a side point, my yahoo PPC campaigns have 3X the CTR than my adwords PPC campaigns.

I use WhyPark for my sites. You can ad any content you want and use your own AdSense account. The templates are nothing special but some guys on namepros have been custimizing the CSS of their WhyPark pages to make them look unique. Its $100 for 100 domains which isn't a bad deal.

Creating content rich sites should bring customers back and makes it easier to be indexed by the search engines. BUT.... When you have just a parked page with ads on it, the likelihood of someone clicking an ad is much greater.

Only downside to WhyPark is they never return emails and sometimes your added content disappears!!

There are many parking programs out there.
Never park your domains at one provider.
Test them, move them around etc.. to see where they perform the best.

In my sig there is my site that also provides a lot of info about the programs.
Do see Namedrive also

the parking business

will probably evolve to a stage where the park companies run "specials ' and domain owners move there chess pieces to whomever bid s the most for our traffic.A first step is that new program that allows you to consolodate all your domain accts in one place.that would help with all the moving chores.Any one tried it?when i last checked it was in beta stage.

Thank you all. I parked a handfull at Bodis. I really like the way the sites look. Now the big question is , will they make money. Thank you for all the input.

Everyone (including me) seems to get hung up on how the sites look, but that's because I'm not being rational. Realistically parked domains aren't a beauty contest, it's all about site visitors clicking on adverts, whatever layout works best.

I'm running a little experiment on a number of my sites to see what effect templates & pictures have.

Here's a story of two of those sites, told in clicks and dollars. Perms is a Bodis automatic site & Perm is Bodis with text & template.

Code:
Domain Name Visitors Clicks CTR Revenue
Perm.co.nz 36 14 39% $6.92
Perms.co.nz 162 93 57% $34.43

If I've calculated correctly the CPC & RPM are 0.49, 192.22 and 0.37, 212.53 respecively.

In both cases the domains have a single incoming link from my catalog so it's more-or-less pure type-in traffic. The difference in visitors is probably a preference for plurals vs singular.

The result for these two sites suggests that for this keyword no-template produces a higher RPM than a pretty template.

There are other domains where I've found I get the opposite result, and the experiment is on-going -- next month I intend reversing the two names to see what happens then.

For this particular experiment, I say keep running it for a year and see what the end result is.

In the long run, the "pretty" page will probably get a better index in the SE's due to the custom text and may end up returning more income.

I agree Yanni. In any beauty contest the first thing we notice is the pretty face and body, then we look at the content. IMO webpages are the same. so over a period of time, with rare exceptions, surely the customized pages are gonna come out winners.

I may continue experimenting with these two domains and their kin, but the particular experiment I wanted to try was the effects of template+text vs Bodis vanilla landing pages on type-in traffic. This is already difficult to gauge as these two domains have arrived on the front page of Google NZ (my target market) for the search term "Perms" which means I can't be sure any more that I'm getting type-in and not search results.

Don't get me wrong, more traffic is always good; it's just that it makes analysis a little more uncertain.

Agreed, but in the long run a real web site will get more traffic & generate more revenue than a parked one. If I had the time to develop all 1200 names in my portfolio I probably wouldn't be using parking at all.

I'm not sure I believe that a few paragraphs on the landing page of a parked site are going to result in links & improved indexing in SEs, but that's a different experiment for another day.
