Hi Everyone,

I've become somewhat of a domain collector over the years, rather by chance.

I (as many do) get a business / website idea, buy a catchy domain, mistakenly think I live in a world of 1426-hour days and then realise I just simply don't have the time to get all my projects off the ground.

Therefore I want to start listing some of my domains at auction...

I have an account with Sedo, GoDaddy, Flippa and most recently NameJet - but which one to use?

I read quite a bit of domainer negativity although I admit I do like the ability you have on that site to put lots of information about potential industry, comparable sales, traffic analytics etc, ...even logo (see one here)

That's all very well and good of course...
But in reality, getting visibility amongst serious bidders / investors is more important.

Any thoughts / guidance from the experienced folk on here would be very much appreciated!

Kind regards, Paul

You can list them at multiple places, you don't have to pick one. For instance, I list mine at GD, Sedo, Afternic and few other smaller ones

@gilescoley Thanks for the response! If I'm going for an auction though, surely I can only choose one? (to avoid being committed to sell across multiple sites)

I've read on other threads that some recommend putting domains up for auction in multiple places at once ... I've never subscribed to that. I have certain marketplaces that have performed better than others for certain types of domains ... but some still don't hit their reserve or sell when I think its a slam dunk. Good luck!

Hi

i don't know the quality of your names, but putting up for auction, seems like last thing an "investor" would consider.

most "investors" auction names only after they get an offer, that is comparable with what they would sell the name for
though some of the "impatient" will list in auctions with a "reserve", hoping that the audience will push up the price.

as is, auctions are means of liquidation and unless you have "high quality or in-demand liquid or keyword-rich" domain names, then most likely you won't be satisfied with results.

Good Luck!

imo...

At a place like Sedo...if you aren't willing to pay, you have to wait until you get an offer and then you push it to auction. Just because you list these names in your Sedo account, it doesn't mean its an auction.

I think flippa is very useful, check out

@Peacemann

It's Flippa that I was on about above where you can add lots of descriptive information such as potential domain purpose, comparable sales, analytics, even logo! (such as I've done here)

I've just never ran an auction before on any of these sites before - only reactive make-offer type listings. Hence keen on views from the floor....
