Domains worth over 100k - Where to start?

Thank you for having us on NamePros

We have two domains that we want to get an idea of worth and if we see good numbers then sell them. I am not posting the names here or on the appraisal forum because it seems to be another league that we are in.

the first domain is at .com and is one of the most common 4 letter words describing a thing that is hardware related.

it could be considered comparable to "card" or "fund" or "server" or "memory"


the other is also a .com and it is a logical 3 letter acronym. It would be considered comparable to "GSI" or "BMP" or something of the sorts.

We have these domains for existing companies and registered them over 10 years ago.

We are interested in learning more about the worth of these domains and the best way to sell them whether it be through auction or direct sale or to a broker.

Anybody that wants to help will first be investigated to make sure are legitimate so make sure you have good google references and maybe post count here.

also not interested in paying for appraisals or revealing domains to unqualified sources.

Wow, you sure are asking a lot for a newb on these forums.

First of all you won't release the domain which is fine, that is your choice. However it is hard to give input without it.

Secondly, you want free help and then say you will "investigate" people before they help.

It seems like you feel it should be an honor to give you free help. Not sure if that is the best approach.

You clearly have two high priced domains. I would suggest you read and ask around for information on brokers etc to get a good idea how to proceed with anyone.

As for an appraisal, names in the category you speak of can be bought and sold for as little as 50k or as much as 1 mil. Depends on how much of a rush you are in and who you know.

To be honest, we are quite familiar with the internet industry ways and means (and un-means) , but really have no idea regarding the domaining aspects. Meaning that since we are ignorant we must be careful and learn step by step

are you offering to help? And by the way, it is not necessarily an honor to help us as you say. it may be profitable as well if you are the right person

maybe point us in a few directions to begin research?

Why dont you have a look at http://namebio.com/ and http://dnjournal.com/ to see sales of similar names which might give you an idea of your domain's worth. Apart from that there isnt much more help anyone here can offer you without knowing the domain.
