I have a domain name at namecheap that i cant access! I can not access my account and although I have given their "support" chat person all the info she wants NOW she is asking for a transaction ID. I don't have that, I have no way to get it! I can not believe I need a TRANSACTION ID to get access to my account? I gave her the paypal transaction ID and she said it isnt good enough! I need help! The domain expired, it is MY personal name and this is a MESS! Why would I have a transaction ID from over a year ago! It is not in the paypal ticket that I have!

To the Original Poster:
The domain expired on 25 September 2010. Reactivation at namecheap can be done for 27 days, until 22 October 2010.
The OP has 7 days to reactivate.

To All:
Have a look to this thread to avoid future problems with passwords:
http://www.namepros.com/warnings-and-alerts/661733-password-management.html
I have a unique password for every website. I have hundreds of different passwords and never had a problem with any of them.

To NameCheap:
Namecheap shouldn't allow an account to be managed with a domain in the same account.

I just talked to Marta K. on live support at namecheap and mentioned this thread and suggested they should help the OP.

I think this a flaw on namecheap's part.

We are still talking about the services on the domain right,
and not the redemption stuff? :hearts:

when a domain reaches the expiry date, doesn't the website
and email stop working?

So if she has forgotten the password for her namecheap account
(which I think is what it's all about for renewal)
and they have that email listed as the contact - what does she
do then?

But what you posted was stuff about them taking the domain off you after day 12. That doesn't happen at NameCheap. Even access to the domain itself isn't standard. For example at Fabulous, they don't deny you access to the domain until some time after it expires. I forget exactly when, since I transferred all my domains out after they increased their prices.

wow, how did this entire thread happen?

here is how it all went down....

ive used namecheap since day one. i have OTHER domains there too, which are about to expire. in september, my laptop crashed and i bought a new one. at some point i went to log into namecheap to renew my names, but my password wasnt saved on my new laptop. tried to do the password retrieval, never got an email SO now my password was reset by namecheap and ill NEVER be able to guess it!

meanwhile, since my domain name (and my online business) expired, my email doesnt work! yes my whois is accurate, except for a phone number, which namecheap doesnt care about anyways.

the first few times i tried dealing with namecheaps 3rd world support staff they kept saying i had to give them a credit card number HEY I USED PAYPAL NOT A CREDIT CARD!

finally yesterday i got someone on the support who asked for everything including UNIQUE PAYPAL TRANSACTION ID! i gave her EVERYTHING! including the UNIQUE PAYPAL TRANSACTION ID! then she says sorry, you have to deal with the fraud department if you dont have a namecheap transaction ID, which i dont, because my old laptop crashed!

no one has ever asked for my drivers license or anything!

ALSO TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, several months back, someone at namecheap actually let one of my clients, who is listed NOWHERE on my account transfer a name out of MY account without ever notifying me at all!!! his domain was in MY account and MY name. but yet i cant get access to my name???!!! and i have another domain name expiring! which is worse, it is my server name.

why hasnt anyone from namecheap showed up here to help me!!!

Lauren,
I dublicated the auctions you did. I went to my namecheap and did a password reset. Namecheap showed this message:

A link has been sent to the email address. Please click on that link to reset your password.

As you can understand from the message your password is not reset until you click the link in the email, which I don't think you did, because you didn't have access to that email, right?

Afterwards I went back to the namecheap homepage and could still login with my existing password. You should keep trying to login.

Btw, could you open a new thread about the domain that was taken out of your namecheap account. This would be a good place to open that thread:
http://www.namepros.com/domain-registrar-reviews/

If they really did this, other domainers should be warned about it. Also I will encourage them to post in that thread. They have some explaining to do.

Dear Customer,

Your account has been locked for 24 hours for three consecutive failed password or username entry attempts. If you feel this an error, please feel free to submit a ticket here and clarify the issue:

yah i tried that before.... im not fallin for that trick again!

You have 6 more days and 18 more login attempts to get it right before the domain reactivation time is over. After that you can try what I explained in the pm.

Hi there,

Namecheap guys solve such issues very quickly in ticket. Sure thing, they don't do it in chats if you don't have NC transaction ID (this is actually what people call security).

several months back, someone at namecheap actually let one of my clients, who is listed NOWHERE on my account transfer a name out of MY account without ever notifying me at all

Well, I don't feel like it is true. Maybe your client was indeed the registrant contact?

Laura,

you are correct NameCheap does have foreigner support staff or at least as far as I can gather since not only are all their staff's name eastern european but if you lookup NameCheap on LinkedIn all the staff who provide support are listed as living in the Ukraine.

Although NameCheap support is top notch.... they are slow at responding to tickets but they are always on live chat.... so yeah no complaints

I was actually just posting about the use of services on the
domain, that is why I bolded that. and to stay on topic.
12 days 2 days...2 minutes...doesn't matter
- when a domain expires the services stop working immediately.

Sorry, next time I'll edit out the other stuff. :P
