Your negotiation strategy is NOT good.

Someone hit you with a 1K opening offer and you countered with 20K.

Then they hit you with an obvious BS sob story and you immediately give them a 50% discount.

That's very bad.
Especifically because he didn't counter your counter. So you are now negotiating with YOURSELF.

Plus, 50% discounts are scary. Rather than encourage people to act fast, it could end up making them question the value of the domain name and eventually cause them to run away.

Best to start with a realistic price. And give reasonable 3-15% discounts. That way, they feel like they got a deal without fearing that they are buying a worthless asset.

Another way to negotiate is to offer a payment plan (LTO) at the FULL price or a cash discount of up to a reasonable % (Not 50%) if they pay IMMEDIATELY.

That way, they get a choice in the matter.

Back to your actual question:

SpaceTech is taken in almost a 100 TLDs.

Space Technology is an extremely EXPENSIVE sector that typically involves a significant input of government/government institutions.

That means the .org is a good fit for it.
Your domain name is short, punchy and to the point.

Plus, .org is one of the legacy TLDs.
And it goes well with the SLD in this case.

Plus, an opening offer of $1,000 is obviously coming from someone with a decent budget.

And if the offer is truly coming from a Professor, then that's even better. Could be that the University is looking to start a program dedicated to Space research or something.

Either way, they'd be getting a HUGE budget for it.

Don't sell for less than $7k.

I agree with @Gabriel360

Don't let it go that cheap; and negotiate as if you don't need the money urgently.

Great domain @alcy.

The .org fits perfectly here.

I strongly suspect the buyer is a fake. One who want to buy a domain name, will not tell you his sorry stories.

Could it be Elon making up a sob story to save some money? ๐Ÿคฃ

1k would be very low for the name and usually a 1k opening offer is not made by people with no money.

That's even better!

Universities have money. They get grants and allocations from governments and institutions.

Just last year, a relatively unknown University in Italy or Spain got $500,000 from ICANN to help domain registrants defend their domain names in a UDRP.

A Space Program in a University would be significantly more funded than that. They'd definitely have a decent budget for the domain name that is likely to become the online portal for the program.

And your domain name is a uniquely GREAT fit for such a program.

Plus, $1K offer is an impressive and serious opener.

$7K seems reasonable to me.

Hi

even if every voter said no, that could just mean they would ask for more.

and relative to the name, itโ€™s a decent offer

imoโ€ฆ

What I would do, especially after finding space tech priorities dot org as a result in namebuyers.com (free), is the following:

Tell them you are going to hold off, but can keep the $10k price out there until Friday. After that, it is going back up to $20k.

If there is no bite, and the site above doesn't go anywhere, you can always reach back out to them. $1k isn't much to lose and about 1/3 of those $1k offers don't really go anywhere anyway.

Make sure you find that domain up there because it points to a program at the largest space organization that ever existed.
