Its an odd question but when doing a transaction with someone on this forum, do you feel more comfortable trading with someone with 3 reviews and lets say 4 posts or somebody with 1200 posts and 0 reviews? I feel more comfortable with the "1200" post person!
I also get fishy with the buyer when their English sentences aren't structured very well, mainly because I randomly assume they are in nigeria hacking their way into my accounts! Sorry if it's a little bit weird I just wanted to know if anyone else feels similarly? :loveyou:

Well here are my thoughts on your questions at hand. Lets clear this up right quick post count does not equal a better member. I have seen lots of members with huge amounts of posts turn around and do horrible transactions etc. It's the same with trader rating..a good sign but not the be all of filtering out bad business ethics members.

Now we here at namepros strive to provide the safest place for buyers and sellers alike...but no place I know of stops scammers 100% of the time. Also keep this in mind...when your a new member you have to start somewhere and perhaps you don't have any feedback or posts....someone had to give you some faith to get started!

Also the correlation of non native english speaking folks to being scammers/hackers is strictly paranoia. I have done many deals with people where english is there 2nd/3rd or even 4th language. They are as professional as fluent english speaking folks and at times much more of a pleasure to do business with etc.

In the end do the best you can with your purchasing and selling. Check there trader rating, google there name, check out any previous purchases. Speak with them via pm and see if you can get a better gauge on the person. There are certain chances you must take in this business and one of them is the unknown person your doing business with.

I wish you the best of luck and If you have any trouble/issues let us know...we are here to help you out!

I think you have to adjust for the size of the transaction. I always look at ratings and post counts but am willing to risk $10 or so on a new member. I figure it's worth the risk to see if they are dumb enough to trash their reputation for so little. I would think real hard about a $100 purchase.

I have to fight the language thing. For a native English speaker living in an English speaking country, language skill says something about the speaker. That's not true when it is someones second language but that is easy to forget.

You can allways opt for 3rd party escrow services.

Then it will be more comfortable to exchange links with the one who has 1200 post than the 4 post person. It is well said that the forum member that has thousands of post got lot of contributions than the other one.

Personally I'd go with good/rep/tr.. lots of posts don't mean much, good trader rep does.

If he's selling LLL.com for $50 then I'll obviously be rather sketched out by the situation and avoid trading. If everything seems in place though, and it's a <$50 transaction I would trust the new member. However I have never really dealt with new members in business too often around here so I can not comment really on the situation.

As for Namepros, I have never been scammed or even attempted scammed here before. Everyone is pretty trustworthy here from what I've dealt with so far, so this isn't a place where I'd be very wary of trusting someone.

But overall, I would much trust someone selling who had high TR and post count than one who didn't.

Only a few days ago I did a deal with someone who had been a member here for 4+ years but had a '0' TR and less than 10 posts. I was somewhat cautious for obvious reasons, but carried out 'due diligence' and arranged the sales through Sedo. Upshot is that the 3 $xxx deals went as smooth as clockwork. So posts and TR do not mean everything.

One last quick word, if any member becomes aware of something wrong in a sales post let me assure you the admins/mods act very quickly on any reports. So this is as safe a place as could be publicly made, but we are all responsible for keeping it such.

Thanks for the replies, yea I guess the English thing is just paranoia and I've come to realize that the amount of scanners on this forum is far smaller then ones like digitalpointforum and such...

Well I'm sure that the one who has a thousand post has the high probability to have a high reputation than the one who has 4 posts only.
