I use a screen resolution of 800x600, i usually find it sensible to create an expandible layout from 750+ (left to right).

1024x768 is definately the latest norm with almost every monitor sold this being the lowest resolution available. But yet many households still use 800x600 so it is usually best to also have layouts that work in this lower resolution.

Although the best method is to make fluid layouts that will work in any resolution by expanding and contracting, very effective method. I personally hate sites that design for 800*600 as I feel like they aren't really optimizing their site for all users. Fluid design is the way to go.

I'm on a 1024 x 768 res. and I design for all resolutions where possible.

1152 x 864 is nice though. 1280 x 1024 I only use when I'm doing really intense graphic design - which isn't very often ;)

the only reason i use 1280x1024 is because

my desktop gets full otherwise, i have my desktop nearly full as it is, i have nearly 100 icons on it, and i hate scrolling, theres less scrolling to do
