What's with Dubai .com Domains? Frenzy or Fizzle?

I was just curious... for a while here, I was seeing ALOT of Dubai domains popping up for appraisals and being bought/sold/traded... Is there a Dubai Landrush going on or was it a passing craze.

Any future in good Dubai .com names?

Well, some people know here that Gazzip, Imre, me and some others are big collectors of Dubai domains. Those people who have at least read a few articles of Dubai know the HUGE potential of the city. Im not going to write down all the projects here, but take a look at them at www.skyscrapercity.com -> local forums -> UAE.

In my opinion Dubai domains will be very popular (and some are already), you are a bit late imo if you want to register good names, but still can buy some for pretty low price compared to what can one expect in the near future. My most beloved gem is Dubayy.com (Dubayy is the other official name of the city, its the proper arabic translation), but i have another 50+ names.

I too think that certain Dubai names will become more attractive and start to receive more traffic in the future, this is of course just speculation based on loads and loads of reading !

Hopefully I have'nt got too many eggs in one basket :hehe:

Dubai.net - $18,000 in 2004 - It is currently parked for sale again, probably for alot more.

After reading this topic, on 28th march i went for hunting for dubai names, i found 3 very interesting domains but haven't secured them, i knew i should have but well i didn't, i only regged dubais.net . Some time after, i thought i lost that list of domains, but i found it today, i went to check the names and guess what: dubaiagencies.com and dubaiflorists.com (the 2 other domains) were taken , i look on whois and they were registred by some dubai officials on the same day (28th march).

I registred only one from that list today, i don't think i will use the other domains, so for the rest of folks that have no dubai names or those who collect them, i posted it on my BLOG a long list of dubai names available names, enjoy !

Anyone, since that thread start, sold any dubai names ?

Haven't sold any but I have noticed something interesting...

Although I've not submitted my Dubia names to any searches or marketed them or posted them anywhere but on this thread, I've been getting VERY consistent hits. And quite a few. I'm considering developing at this point due to the traffic. It's pretty cool that people are actually getting to the site, but how? Has to be type in?

Anyway, I think at this point I agree... Dubai names are a good investment.

There have been some big sales, but like most domains, they are few and far between. You have to hope you get lucky and they pick yours.
