What's the value of creative domain hacks?

Such as "tele.com", "jose.ph", "sanfrancis.co". Does their value come from the TLD or are they considered as premium keywords (telecom, joseph, sanfrancisco...) ?

For me, the value doesn't lie in the type-in traffic, of course...

...But, in the evocative keyword description, and the potential it gives to develop & brand it.

I own Ma.am, for example....A good hack can be very memorable, very brandable.

Totally agree! I think good hacks are even more memorable than .com or .net domains: you don't even have to remember the ext as it's included in the name

I consider the value lies in the TLD you use.

A .com with same domain name will give you a lot more than a same domain with .cn

Think about all of the developed extension hacks that you can. How many don't have millions of $ behind them? I can't think of any. None have stuck with me.

Those names are very brandable and great for development. The best gtld hack in my opinion has got to be pla.net. As for cctlds, I like .me, .in, and .it.
