PR - 5 - backward links, content creation so eventually people will link to you naturally. Plenty of 1st place for target keywords which really all depends on how much competition there is for that word, so that is no really big achievement, depends on how you look at it.

I have got #1 in Google for some keywords too also plenty of places within first 10 results.

I think the OP is referring on SERP ranking.

Got on page number one of Google, Yahoo and MSN SERPs for a longtail keyword for our directory out of 1,000,000+++ results Link building was the key to that achievement.

My website sprintringtones.org ranked #1 in google for "Sprint Ringtones" keyword and I guess it might due to domain relation and SEO. It's a PR2 site.

I really don't care what PR my sites have. If would rather have a PR2 that's on page 1 Google results than a PR6 on page 4. PR doesn't bring in visitors. I DO care what page on Google they show up on with different common searched phrases. I check this monthly and make adjustments accordingly

I am assuming you are referring to the SERP's and not PR. We have obtained dozens of #1 The highest competitive search was 22 Million. We have obtained # 3 for a search that produced over 160 million results.

My Cricket Rules site is ranked #2 in Google. It is competing against 3.6 million + results. I registered the domain in July last year so it is a bit over 6 months old. Done a lot of link building since then including directory submissions, social bookmarking and submitting comments to relevant blogs. It is now attracting around 200 visitors a day, trouble is it only earns me about 20c a day with adwords. Gotta find a better way to monetize it
