Hello everyone,

I'm new in this thing and trying to understand how to buy profitable domain names.

I checked the successful domain names on auctions like godaddy auctions, sedo etc where domain names are being sold for 1000$+ .

Now what I'm trying to do is find a common factor in domain names.

I've tried to shortlist things like Domain authority, Backlinks, length of domain etc but I'm unable to narrow it down.

Some place, a long domain name is being sold out for thousands of bucks and some other places a short domain name with 3 letters and actual english word is something no one wants to buy.

I would like to know if the SEO figures of the domain matter or not like backlinks, google searches, DA etc

Thank you!

People buy domains for different reasons, but personally I only buy domains based on the intrinsic value I see in the domain itself. I personally don't care about backlinks and things like that.

I care about the use of the domain, potential upside, and pool of potential buyers.

Domains can lose pagerank, backlinks, traffic, etc. At the end of the day the domain itself is what keeps the value.

Some others have different business models, that might work for them.

Selling point is different to buyers perspective. Some sellers can sell snake oil represent a domain like a game of trump cards. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trump_(card_games) Trump based on the evolution of word triumph. If ever played the game you would pick a trait and compare it eg engine size or areodynamics. Cars, planes, tanks, loved this. But if you can highlight and sell the domain based on strongest traits. Eg traffic backlinks shortness these will be your selling points.

Thank you both @lock and @bmugford for your replies.

Yes that makes sense. But what do you think about these factors like DA, Backlinks and google searches stuff? Can one mention them as a plus point while selling a domain or it doesn't matter?

I used to buy high PR pagerank high backlink names and if your selling traffic and have a means to use it till exceeds the registation value go right ahead but realise you will need to check if any of it is real to begin with as half of what is listed at expireddomains is fake. Even if you sort out the real traffic you will end up with names you cannot sell. After you milk these you drop them again.

I own many SEO sites listed on my network at free.marketing but a stand out would be submit.services

You can mention whatever you want, but outside the domain itself I think really only targeted traffic is going to appeal to the average buyer. If you are selling a quality domain, and it comes with traffic that can be turned into conversions, that is something a typical end user can understand.

The absolute dumbest thing to do is put in google results it isn't a selling point it is just how difficult it will be to find. People want to know searches not results this will deter offers.
