I'm catching the tail end of this, seems to be some kind of controversy...

https://domaingang.com/domain-news/rob-monster-off-twitter-after-christchurch-massacre-controversy/

Must be something odd to evoke this type of a response from one of our members.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
There is no one in Namepros with an IQ less than 90.
You obviously don't know what an IQ that low means.

It would be slightly below average.

So, yes, I am sure we have some sub 90 folks here. I don't judge them -- they have other gifts. IQ is an overrated metric.

The real problem when you get people who are concurrently:

- Stupid (low IQ)
- Angry/Mean/Selfish (low EQ)
- Broke

Sometimes we encounter that combination in real life. I pray for such people, trusting that the God that created them probably had something positive in mind before something went wrong.

IQ is an overrated metric.
Probably yes, outdated.

AFAIK, stupidity is below 75.
90 has not to be bad, really. Loyal employees for routine tasks, well-based citizens.
Police forces don´t prefer to employ persons with an IQ above 115, too much own opinion.
Above 125 people don´t post in threads like this against the mainstream, more to lose than to win.
Einstein had an IQ of 165 they say. I believe Mozart and Gates are reported to join him.

IQ tests are full of meaningless questions. Maybe I would "do well" at such a test, but still I wouldn't be proud of my score even if all my answers are "correct".

Einstein might have stolen most of "his" work. But even so, he is smart anyway. He is the symbol of genius, but maybe not an example of (?). Someone should do a serious research. I'm unbiased, curious and have suspicions about it.

Not saying it's right, but one thought I've had about IQ tests is they can maybe give a decent read on where someone is at, but not necessarily what their potential could really be - especially if they were given effective thinking tools to help grow their potential. Eg.: https://www.edwddebono.com/course

Interesting quote I happened across today on testing intelligence: "The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function.” -F. Scott Fitzgerald

Adding to my above post, I ordered as an Xmas present for myself a book called Super Thinking - The Big Book of Mental Models. See what that can do to help raise my IQ/effectiveness.

"You can't really know anything if you just remember isolated facts. If the facts don't hang together on a latticework of theory, you don't have them in a usable form.
You've got to have models in your head."
- Charlie Munger, investor, vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway

So what has happened to this thread. Lots of pages I've missed.

What is the latest on Rob's (Epik's) stance on mass shootings, flat earth, dinosaurs in Bible times, etc.? This thread seems to have went completely sideways.

this thread didn't go “completely sideways”

Sorry about your narrative

Hey, I also miss reading Rob's views. It takes patience and courage to express other than group think and make it permanent on the internet. It is just too bad we all are not after the same pursuit of truth while staying humble.

There seems to be a lot of "group think" when it comes to posts regarding Epik. A lot of pro Epik posters later end up with Epik badges, so leads one to conclude that such posts are by Epik staff from the start (even by those without the badges). Not sure whether you mean "same pursuit of truth" or "pursuit of same truth", either way truth should always mean the same thing. Humility plays a role when the truth affects us personally and demands we defend our position. And we all are individually liable to the consequences of what we choose to believe as truth.

We are chipping away delivering lots of exciting innovations for the domain industry and beyond. I am active in a number of other threads and posting a bit less of my own threads.

ICYMI, we have been hiring a lot of folks:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/hi...ct-managers-and-executive-leadership.1162639/

We have a year-end push to deploy a few notable projects in time for NamesCon:

NameLiquidate.com: https://www.namepros.com/threads/do...rm-seeking-input-for-new-epik-project.1166450

DNEncrypt.com: https://www.namepros.com/threads/ep...rtner-dnencrypt-to-be-intermediate-ca.1164903

DNProtect.com: https://www.namepros.com/threads/what-are-the-must-have-features-for-dnprotect-com.1156889

Ultimate Brand Marketplace: https://www.namepros.com/threads/he...e-ultimate-digital-brand-marketplace.1167901/

DomainGraduate: https://domaingraduate.com/

CloudChase.com: This is a very cool new alternative to AWS/Azure. Check it out: https://cloudchase.com/

Also, look for a few notable upgrades:

- Escrow Dashboard: https://www.namepros.com/threads/if...g-time-and-money.1119508/page-15#post-7526539

- Domainer CRM

- Masterbucks.com 2.0

We also have a massive philanthropy project under way with the project called Toki.com which was hinted at in a few places but notably here:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/domain-dojo-brand-selection-poll.1163700/page-10#post-7511109

On a more tactical level, we are working to get domainers some year-end liquidity as we ramp up brokerage activity directly integrated with domain escrow:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/cash-buyers-looking-for-year-end-deals.1168685

Lastly, @DanSanchez and @Gube have both been cooking up some special surprises for domainers. We'll hopefully have something cool to share before year-end.

In spite of distractions, and occasional setbacks. it has been a productive 2019. We are looking to finish the year strongly and set the stage for a big 2020 for making the pie a whole lot bigger!

I do miss the banter in this thread. The only thing I will add is that the impeachment proceedings are all theater between 2 controlled oppositions.

Closer to home, check out my comments about .ORG registry:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/the-fight-for-org-is-it-about-money-or-is-it-about-control.1167444/

There is some good open source discovery happening in that thread.

You guys get me...you really get me! :xf.smile: I feel as though my Freudian Slip is showing...

btw, MERRY CHRISTMAS (none of this 'holiday wishes' mess) to everyone!

I agree with this sentiment. The US is very good at turning everything into a sporting event, including politics.

It's my understanding that Rob has outgrown that line of thinking, he is now more focused on making Epik in to a better company by helping domainers become more successful. I believe that interacting with NamePros has changed him for the better and that he is now more concerned about creating a more positive legacy for himself as a philanthropist than trying to prove that Earth was flat or that people kept dinosaurs in their backyards as pets. He has also drawn a line as to how far he is willing to go to support clients who are on the fringes.

IMO

Personally I have not seen this evidence of Epik staff trying to control this thread and overall differences of opinion have been on the cordial side here where everyone can express their opinion and substantiate it.

"same pursuit of truth" was my flawed attempt at emphasizing something of an honest approach towards seeking understanding.

What do you mean by "And we all are individually liable to the consequences of what we choose to believe as truth"? Liable in what way, please expand

Thanks. That last name cuts both ways. It is not easily forgotten. It is also an excellent name for certain propagandists to create a narrative around an alt-right media boogeyman. So, the real challenge is overcoming the mythology that is enabled by the propagandists. Working on it.

Control? I haven't seen that either, nor am I aware if that is even possible.

We are responsible for what we accept as "truth" and act upon. I encourage everyone to do the due diligence, as opposed to accepting someone's hearsay at face value.

I understood that much:) Was curious if you were thinking specific consequences like spiritual, public opinion, legal or all the above:) But I agree, no one gets away without consequences in the end. That much is probably true.

Nothing specific but the consequences may impact all of the above. Although we listen to others' perspectives and opinions, we need to do the due diligence on what we accept as fact or truth which we may or may not act upon and/or encourage others to do likewise. Bottom line, we must take responsibility on what we accept as truth and our resulting actions. Sorry if that is as clear as mud. ;)

I did not realize this until today but October 2018 is when George Soros gave Wikimedia $2 million:

https://wikimediafoundation.org/news/2018/10/15/george-soros-invests-future-free-open-knowledge/

It would not be unreasonable to conclude that this is also when Wikipedia became weaponized against conservative narratives.

I thought they were more subtle about it, but there it is -- influence peddling at its finest. And yet Google still indexes Wikipedia like it is some kind of trusted arbiter of truth. Nope.

In what way does this relate back to your company and why is it being introduced as a topic of conversation in the 'reviews' section of a domaining website?
