What would be a good business idea? I have one, but need more opinions.

Hey all I have been thinking ever since that million dollar homepage opened up, and selling pixels for 1.00 each isn't a lot of money. In fact he sells these pixels 100 at a time, so that's 100.00.

My idea is way different of course, so here goes...

Selling any sort of item or service for 1.00 a pop is very cheap but we're looking for quantity, not how much it will be. Basically you look at the longterm forecast of this. So at 1.00 a pop, getting at least 200 solid people a day would be 200.00 a day, which would also grow.

Basically I was thinking about opening up an avatar business, where people would pay 1.00 for a high quality custom avatar. There isn't too much to making avatars, and well the money can roll in if you get a good reputation...

Any other ideas on this 1.00 a pop thing?

Remember this is quanity not how much you are selling your services for.

Regards, B-)

Well, the 1.00 a pop... what's a pop? O.o

As for the avatars ... I have a site that makes signature graphics (sigbanners.com - service is down. don't use it.) and it became quite popular. But... hmm... you need a good reputation before you can start charging for little images :|

"a pop" means 1.00 an avatar or 1.00 per whatever I sell.

I'm just thinking because people are obviously going to pay lesser for more quality logos, and if the person has a high reputation, than there shouldn't be a problem making great business correct?

When I look at the "Million Dollar Homepage" and see 8,700 spots sold already, it makes me really think. That is $8,700.00 right there, and he just got started.

SO MANY IDEAS!

Good question... I'm not sure Paypal would take that much out of a dollar if anything? If they do, than I suppose selling something by the bulk would be a better deal.

I'll have to check into that.

Itโ€™s to much effort for such a small return. Itโ€™s a bad idea, it wonโ€™t work.

Keep on thinking. :)

Believe me I am! I have plenty of time too, because I am in no rush. I have always liked lower prices better than more, because I believe in quanity more than bulk. We'll see what comes my way.

Hmm... Maybe that's not a good idea then... Although that isn't too much, the outcome could either be very good or terrible.

In a short period of time? Absolutely not. Over a greater period of time? Sure why not?

Put it this wayโ€ฆ. If you made an average of 1 avatar per day (taking into account you will have other things to do, some days you won't get any orders etc.) Its going to take you 2,738 years.

Very true. I would obviously use some sort of SEO or promotion methods to gain site respect. I don't think I will be doing this though. Maybe spending a couple thousand on a decent domain name would give me a decent start. I just need to figure out what I would want to do of course.

Well I think the PayPal fees would absolutely kill it. Even if you charged $5 an avater, which is pretty high, it would take you 548 years to complete the project at one avater a day, and PayPal would end up taking $89,000 dollars of your profits, or roughly 10%. If you ask me, this is not a very good business plan.
