Unstoppable Domains โ€” Expired Auctions

What Works for One State Should Still Sell but May Not as Much for Another State? IE, NYLawyer.com. FLLawyer.com, etc, Right or Wrong?

I'm curious in an attempt to save money will a formula listing a State before an Occuptation, etc., always sell albeit in different amounts. IE, will any US State/City Name before Lawyer.com always sell or will you still have to wait years to sell it because nothing is guaranteed. I am sure for instance that Every State or Big City's abreviation before lawyer.com is taken because they are all sellable. Is this a correct assumption? Should you therefore if you find another term automaticlly register it if its available. Here's an example that I don't think exists any more but is similar to my premise. If you could register Any State/City Name Basketball.com would you do it with no more research for $12.15?
In Some Cases which is more sellable, using the full name or Abreviation. IE. WiLawyer.com or WisconsinLawyer.com?

I'm asking a generic question not a specific one so can you please clarify as I don't understand what you are trying to illustrate. What is already done? Thank You.

A lawyer could be a more popular occurrence in a big city over farmland USA. Second if I live in Chicago am I gonna search Chicago Lawyer or Chicago Attorney or Illinois Lawyer or Illinois Attorney? It won't be Illinois as that's many hours of territory to cover from Chicago all the way down to southern Illlinois. etc...

No domains are really going to be fast sellers. The only thing you are going to sell fast are amazing domains at low prices.

As far as the question about legal domains there is lawyer, lawyers, attorney, attorneys then law, legal, as well as many types of lawyers.

There are a lot of variations.

ChicagoAttorney.com / ChicagoAttorneys.com / ChicagoLawyer.com / ChicagoLawyers.com are all worth owning. However, they are still not going to be quick sellers (unless they are priced really low).

When you start moving to smaller cities and states, the bar is much higher.

There is no one size fits all answer.

I scanned all the state combos for State + Attorney, Attorneys, Lawyer, and Lawyers.

They are all taken, but dozens are available for mid $X,XXX or less. Most have probably been registered for 20+ years.

There is no shortcut to fast sales.

You have a bunch of decent to good domains, priced at reasonable end users prices, and you sell a small percent per year.

I've actually owned/sold good handfuls of geo/service domains over the decades and probably still have 75+ in inventory today but they have never been my quickest or top sales most fall in the 1k-3k range. Guessing you've had a few as well or still do like myself.

Thanks for the example of Chicago Lawyer versus Illinois Lawyer. My point is though these are all automatic guaranteed sales correct albeit with different price ranges? It sill is not clear to me if for example ChicagoLawyer.com is a more desireable and higher priced domain than ChiLawyer.com? What is your opinion?

In almost every case I would take the city/state name over some abbreviation.

Some examples where you might prefer a shorter version are ones like Philly vs Philadelphia, Indy vs Indianapolis, OKC vs Oklahoma City, etc.

OK, thanks. How do you define Low Prices: Under $250,$500 or $1,000 or higher? In your examples at least for yourself, is ChicagoLawyer.com a better investment than the 3 Letters shorter ChiLawyer.com and which of these do you list for a higher selling price? I'm still trying to come to a general rule like is shorter better than clarity in terms of the buyer?

Automatic guaranteed sales? :xf.grin: Sign me up for some of that. (y)
Yes I would prefer ChicagoLawyer.com over ChiLawyer.com
Geo service domains are tricky cause some niches care about an internet presence and others could care less.
ChicagoLawyer may care, Chicago barber may stand in the corner and shave heads without a care in the world about a website etc...

All of my Geo service domains currently are priced $999, $1999, $2999, $3999, $4999 depending how internet ready I feel their niche is.

If you had a domain like ChicagoLawyer.com or ChicagoAttorney.com for $200 - $350, it would probably be grabbed by another domain investor (or end user) in a relatively short period of time.

I would easily pay a couple hundred bucks for a GEO .com of that quality.

When you start moving down in format quality, it might never sell.

And if you held on for say 5 years and you hypothetically sold it at the going rate, you could get 4 figures for it and thus it's better to wait, correct? What about ChicagoLawyer.com versus ChiLawyer.com. If they were both available to you at the same price which one would you invest in?

There is no comparison between Chicago and Chi. Chicago is far superior.

Chicago + any decent term is probably going to be a pretty decent GEO.

I have been to Chicago many times and never heard anyone refer to the city as Chi. You might hear Chitown or Chicagoland, but those are not really great for domains either.

It's not like Philly vs Philadelphia. That is much more common, but shorter is not always better.

The legal field is one of the worst performing when it comes to resale in my experience, especially GEO related.

It's probably best to just avoid the field to be honest.

Thank You. So is the general rule for GEO that the full longer name is always preferable to the shorter abbreviation? Vermont over VT and Maine over ME for example? Appreciate the information.

I was just using that for an example. I thank you for giving me insight that the full name of a State or City is preferrable to the shortened abbreviation.

In my view, yes. At least in the vast majority of situations.

I mean one like LA is better than Louisiana, but not for the Louisiana use. For the city use.

ChiLawyer.com
My first association with this word is from Chinese philosophy and martial arts, where "chi" refers to life force or vital energy. Not Chicago, as Brad already mentioned.
