I have a few domains listed for sale on various forums and site/domain sale websites.

Now I need some advice.

Someone emails me and asks "How much for your domain you have for sale, please email me back the price you want for it"

I have no clue what its worth, so I dont want to say a number too small, and lose out, but I dont want to say a number too big, and have him walk away.

What do you all do in these cases?

Thanks!

firstly if this is an exact quote, "How much for your domain you have for sale, please email me back the price you want for it," then it is more than likely a scam.

no no....just do a follow up email. Test the waters. See if the price was too high.

Try hard to get him come to a number.

I just replied to my guy. I think I lowballed it...eeeeeek :)

zicman: how would it be a scam? and how would I find out?

Dammit Zicman, your right! I check, it was from "name-deals.com" which from what I understand, is a scam.

shoot!

He must be a scammer , say him to give his/her details or ask him that from where he got your email id .

potential buyers are sometimes not real potential buyers. they are domainers that want to guage your price expectations possibly against their like domain(s).

other times the price you're asking may be reasonable but they want to see how badly you want to sell it or how low you may be willing to go. I've had many contact me, negotiate and then never follow through and at the same time I've had offers on domains that I truly wish I could rewind time and accept them

Different people have different ways of asking the price. You can reply with your desired price or simply say that you are not interested to trade it.

could have sworn i posted a reply before but

get or set price range for all your domains, either on paper or in your mind, before listing them for sale.

also, if you don't ask for what you want, how will they ever know?

don't be scared either way

just reply with a price you want to sell it. If he will reply you back asking you to go appraise your domain at resources he is trusting, than he is scammer. This is very common scam to make people to go appraise their domain names at some domain appraisal companies that are charging about $65-70 doll for appraisal. After appraisal is done, they usually disappear.

Shoot an high but reasonable value. If they really are interested in the domain they will contact you again.

They asked for a price. I'd give them a price. You should know how much you want for any domain, else you would never sell any.
