A person who I have known online for a while (2 years) and who I never had a problem with has gotten me into a situation with PayPal in which I don't know what to do. He contacted me to do a transaction where he sends me a sum of money from his PayPal account via his credit card and then I send it back taking a cut from it (a small $10 to $25). He did this because PayPal doesn't allow you to deposit funds via credit card directly. He said this was perfectly all right so I believed him because I had known him so long. We did about 3 transactions like this (each $xxx) and now one charge back has been filed by his credit card company and I have a negative balance in my account in the amount of $xxx. What I don't get is I sent the money back to him so why do I have a negative amount? Wouldn't the money I sent to him from my account be taken back or is the money I sent him totally different money he sent to me from his credit card. Did he screw me over or do you think he didn't mean for this to happen? I don't know what to do... does anyone have any advice or know what to do in a situation like this? I don't want to have to put the money back into my account because I already sent it back to him. That would be like stealing from me...

Yeah, I've had this lots of times, people file a complaint when nothing bad has been done and paypal take the funds from your account leaving you in a minus debt.

In one of my paypal accounts my debt is -£400 which is almost $1000 dollars if my currency exchange is okish.

The best thing to do is if your account isnt limited, unless you are going to pay it off, change all your details to wrong details and forget about the account, thats what I've done because there is no way I am paying 400 when I have done absolutley nothing wrong.

Ya, as if you don't you will eat the cost of all this yourself, and if he is not talking to you know, it would appear you were taken :(
