Good morning!

NamePros is working on a lot of new and exciting features, and many of them are thanks to member suggestions in our Comments and Feedback section.

We'd love to hear even more! What else would you like us to add for you?

All suggestions are welcome, from small and simple changes to big and complex features!

Please post below, or submit your suggestions privately.

Let us know what you'd like us to build!

Another indicator is when a bot account suddenly revives a thread that has been dormant for years, failing to take into account what has already been discussed in that thread, and instead simply providing a summary of the opening post (thereby adding nothing of value).

Hi

a suggestion:

in an effort to reduce spam
np should add same “update your request” rule/policy that’s applied to threads created in domains wanted section, and apply to the job posting and broker request sections, respectively.

as is, threads stay active/open longer than a year, because the OP is not getting same “update” notifications from moderators.

and, of course some of those threads may still get replies, even when the OP hasn’t responded in months.

new members, in particular will post and not even notice the creation date or may see it and still post, regardless.

tks

imo…

Hi

I touched on that subject in above quote

I would also watch for many padding posts appearing in very quick succession across different threads. That is practically impossible for a human to do, especially when the posts contain longer paragraphs of text.
There isn't an automated flag for that, other than the post-time limiter, for preventing rapid fire posting. That automated feature helps with most of that, but a human doing it or even a smart agent can get around it with a post schedualing timer.

This moderator team does not handle any of the technical side, so I'm not sure how or if the current limit feature could be expanded on to flag specific posting signals.

All new accounts posts already go into a moderation queue at first, but when moderators are looking at the queue, if the post itself isn't a copy and is on-topic to the discussion with no other visible rule violations on the surface, it generally isn't flagged for further review.

Moderators having to review each account associated with every post that goes into the queue would be a huge manual undertaking. That queue can fill up sometimes with 50 for review in as little as 30 minutes on very busy days.

Your idea is definitely something that would benefit more through automation, if applicable or possible.

Thanks for the suggestion.

What should NamePros add? - The ability to change usernames for free (with a Gold account)!!!

I don't want to purchase any Gold membership, as no sense
so shold I to start fresh one:
- Request to deactivate current account.
- Wait 14 full days before registering a new one.

We've actually caught a few of those and removed them, but some still slip though that don't have a clear rule violating or duplicate content flag.

NamePros has always had a Gold account for username change policy. The only exception to that policy has been for new accounts that may have accidently put the wrong thing in the username area (E.G. full real name), those are normally allowed to bypass the gold account requirement if their status is still "New Member".

The footnotes on the upgrade page are important:
Footnotes:

  1. +Bonus: Listings in Top Domains do not count toward active limits.
  2. ++Limited to 5 username changes and 1 change per 6 months. Gold Account must be active at the time of request.
  3. +++Gold accounts may be used by existing members without being considered disallowed duplicate accounts if all accounts are in good standing. Each person may have a total of one non-Gold account.
  4. *Upgrades do not override restrictions imposed due to disobedience, security risks, etc.

Members may not close an account to open a new account, trying to bypass their infraction and contribution history. That's never been allowed and part of the details provided when requesting an account be closed: https://www.namepros.com/threads/delete-or-close-namepros-account.1047418/

It should also be noted that we cannot delete accounts from the database for security reasons.

We hope that information helps.

Sorry for the inconvenience, moderators are simply tasked with enforcing the rules and policies of the platform.

Have my responses not been human-like with the occassional rule and policy reference?

It can sometimes feel like a moderator isn't human when they reference documentation, guides, policies or rules, but we are definitely human. It's just easier to reference the official documents than retyping them each time.

Why show fake interest to help users by opening topics like that.
but when it comes to deal, u can't help or add such option, as asked.

It's a pity, as times go by, and other users are asking me about that domain that I don't own anymore and its username is not up to date.

So one more time :
What should NamePros add? - The ability to change username for free.

I see
"You can change your username 5 time(s) every 30 days."
but indeed I can't.

So how can I keep my username up to date?
"I didn't own that domain for years, so kindly rename my account."

Unfortunately, moderators see more reports about members that changed their usernames than wanting to change them. Members have made it clear they do not want other members to be able to change their usernames to try and hide from past bad transactions, unprofessional history, etc.

It's important that moderators enforce the username change policy to prevent potential abuse or deception.

It's one of those situations where something was manipulated in the past so much a policy had to be put in place in order to prevent or curb said manipulation and deception. It really comes down to being a potential security issue.

However, since you have requested a second opinion, I'm escalating this matter for a second moderator teams review. If they find that the policy should continue to be upheld, it would require a policy change to happen, prior to being able to authorize said username change.

However, if the second review weighs in favor for a one time exception, you'll be able to resubmit a username change for manual approval.

Tagging @Bravo Mod Team as the secondary review team in this matter.

As soon as they have reviewed this matter an update will be provided.

We appreciate your patience.

How would that circumvent an initial payment by a human or an agent prior to the bot posting?

I'm not sure a $1 payment is a solution for that. That might be an unnecessary cost burden on human members.

Any other ideas?
As someone suggested upper add a Human badge to those who bought a Blue/Gold Account in the past. I think bots can't afford yet to spend money, that is what makes the difference between humans.
The one USD idea could be for a Human badge, it can be cheaper, like 50 cent if you want. :glasses:

If you guys don't implement something to differentiate us, I personally will stop coming here, if I do this others will follow. :stop:

As previously mentioned, charging members to use a free service, cloaked as verification just doesn't feel right to me, when a human can easily just pay for their bots once to open the door and then flip the automation switch.

That's how they have already been doing it, even at the blue and gold subscription levels. So, if they do it at that price point, then $0.50 to $1.00 would just open the flood gates more. There's even VIP's and 10+ year base members that switched to semi-automation, so those are half human and half bot agents, but still operated by humans for manual verification purposes. That's also how they bypass the initial New Member posts going into the moderation queue.

It's not as easy as it may seem to stop the use of automation technology when everything in the world is shifting to it.

I look forward to any other suggestions you may have.
