If my goal is to write good content and make small affiliate sites that will get ranked well in G, what kind of domain names should I be buying?

All the good 2-keyword .coms are taken.

So from there, I can get:
• Good 3-keyword.com (freebluewidgets.com)
• Good 2-keyword.net/org/info (bluewidgets.net)
• Good 2-keyword-dash.com (blue-widgets.com)

From this list, what is the best to go after? Or should I be looking at something else?

I don't think Google cares; any would work as well as another. Personally I would take the hyphenated two word dot com first.

either numer 1 or 2, you will soon want to rebrand to a dot com if it takes off if you get a .net now.

If you plan to develop affiliate sites and can hand reg good domains in the hyphenated version, I would grab as many two-word killers as I could and then go for 3 word search phrases, all in dot com. Development is the key to my choice in hyphenated domains, if it's parking, go for the 3 word specific phrases.
