4L non-words are too speculative, and over-bid in auctions.

Best 4L's are words attached to commercial products (Cars, Auto, Heat, Tour, Golf, Food, F***, etc.). Second-best are four-letter names (Josh, Dave, Matt, etc.). Many of these types of domains become available in .net, .org, .info, and .us on a monthly basis.

Random 4L's are the biggest farce in the history of .com domaining. Of the 456,976 combinations, words and pronouncables are about the only thing you really want.

Yes, they are speculative..but they can be flipped with greater predictability than other keyword domains.

In 2009, yes, but remember that end-user demand is leading indicator of how domains will fare in the reseller market. And I have determined, through several private studies, a huge disconnect between how much domainers have invested (and continue to invest) in cvcv.com's versus end-user demand for them. "Buoy"s have been traded for money for a decades, "Wafo"s have not and probably never will; yet the former would probably command less than double what the latter would on the reseller market simply because the former is not a cvcv. What's wrong with this picture?

There's been a surplus of automated tools designed to detect and highlight cvcv.com's in drop lists, largely because it's so easy to build such an algorithm. Over the next several years, however, these tools will become more sophisticated and able to detect keywords that logically fit together as well as non-speculative brands, diffusing the highlights that have been all too heavily concentrated on the shorties.

Remember that end-users think in terms of semantics (meaning), not syntax (textual makeup). Today's domain research tools focus more on syntax because it's easy to do, but such will not be the case for much longer.

Look for a massive crash in cvcv.com prices to take place around the years 2011-2013.
