I have unlocked the domain name classicscripts.com in preperation for transfer away from Godaddy.

I have initiated the transfer at my new registrar (Namecheap) and received the email (from transfer-approval.com) to confirm the transfer. I have confirmed the transfer.

A few minutes later I am sent an email from you (Godaddy) telling me the transfer request has been declined.

This has happened to me twice now with the same domain with 3 days! What is going on?

I think he said he doesn't have any other domains currently with GoDaddy.
Got 8 domains in my account most of which will be dropping if I can't sell mind.

Dear Peter,

We appreciate your information, but we will not be able to remove the transfer hold on the domain. We do apologize for the trouble and inconvenience this may have created for you.
Please let us know if our office may assist with any additional comments or concerns.

Kindest regards,

Michelle Barnes

Can I thank you and all the other reps for their correspondence regarding this issue. However due to the way this issue has been dealt with I will never be using Godaddy ever again and nor will I be recommending Godaddy, in fact the opposite I will make it my mission to warn people away from Godaddy. And to think I was considering moving my other 40 domains to Godaddy a week ago too, looks like the No. 1 registrar has lost a potentially good customer.

Very disappointing.

Mr Stannard.

Not worth it. Just gonna wait the month thats left, transfer it and never look back!

Just to let people know GD never replied after my last email.

Boy are they dumb. You know what's funny, GoDaddy just bought an ad on the "Earn Credit for Clicks" page, but they're stupid enough not to accommodate a customer on this forum when there is an active negative thread about the situation. It's amazing that with all the different GD suits you corresponded with, not one of them was smart enough to say, "hey, let's resolve this issue in a positive way for the customer".

The exact same thing happened to me when I updated the admin contact email just before initiating a transfer away.
I complained both to the office of the president and icann and I did tell them I was going to move all my domains away from godaddy as soon as I had the chance.
The office of the president removed the lock on a few domains of my choosing and after a while when the icann complaint had been processed, they removed the lock for all domains.
I would just stay away from godaddy.

Do they put a hold on the domain even if you change just the nameserver information? If so that is the most ridiculous thing ever. I'm always making adjustments to nameservers, etc.

It seems that common sense has gone out of the window these days.

Judging from the response to my emails it appears that it is only when ownership changes (in my case push from one acc to another) which is not as bad a just making small alterations to the NS for eg but its still a really crappy rule.

IMO the period being 60 days makes it clear the intention of this term, I accept a 7 or even 14 day period would acceptable but 2 months!

Yup, I think enom has a 7 day hold period after a domain is pushed from one account to another. Its a good example of one company doing something that is reasonable vs. another company doing something that is totally unreasonable.

Yes but GoDaddy puts the clock even when you edit WHOIS, you add a period to the end of your organization and that's it, another 60 days.

IMO even if its in their terms, thats totally unacceptable!
