Something weird just happened....

On Sunday, I did a Google search for the keyword of my diarrhea site (check sig) and I came up 1st on the list which I thought was pretty cool and figured that's why I've been making a few cents a day on it. Yesterday was the first day I didn't receive any clicks.

Today, I was explaining the business to a friend of mine and wanted to show him what would happen if he searched for my keyword term on Google. Sure enough, my site is totally off the Google charts! I can't even find it. I then typed in the exact url and went to the site only to find that the Google ads are now in German. WTF?

Does anyone know why this might have happened and how to fix it?

You can't just "fix" it. Google rankings are always shifting and changing. Nobody's ever guaranteed to do well (specially not parking pages, if that's what it is) Even if you get the top spot today, tomorrow someone else can come along and knock you off, or the Google algorithm changes and you get buried. If you're dependent on Google search for your income, you need to find some other baskets to put your eggs. I've had clients who practically lost their entire businesses because multi-thousand page websites suddenly tanked in the indexed and wiped out most of their sales.

What you can do to help:

- Make a list of all your most important search terms that you want to rank for.

- Make sure those search terms exist on your pages, but don't overdo it. The most important search phrases should be in your page title and your meta description tag

- Make sure all your content is unique and doesn't exist on other websites. Use Copyscape.

- Open up a Google Webmaster Tools account and verify your site, so Google can give you information about it.

And then hope for the best. Sometimes it's just a temporary glitch. Does your site show up at all in the index, on a different page? Does it show up for ANY combination of search phrases?

Go into Google and type site:www.yourssitename.com - do any pages show up?

That will get you started.

For starters, I would like to say thanks for the indepth information you provided me with.

I just checked it again and sure enough I'm at the top spot and my Google Ads are back to English. So..... I guess you were right when you said it might be a glitch. Thank goodness because of the 50 domain names I own, this one makes me the most money and that's not saying much. :(

I'll be sure to use all of your tips in the furture to help my business stays afloat. Thanks again for your help!

OK.... I'll make sure to do that.

I have one more question regarding the Rash site that is in my sig. I registered this name about three weeks ago and submitted a site map to Google. I just did a search for the keyword and my site came up on page two BUT this is what it says:

Web hosting, domain name registration and web services by 1&1 Internet
1&1 offers Web hosting, domain names, website builders, servers, and email solutions. Find affordable, dedicated ad-free web hosting, ...

I checked my site in WebMaster Tools and it said that it was last indexed on Sept. 15th.

How often do sites get indexed? Is there a set time frame that Google goes by?
