What Facebook and Google are hiding from the world

Just happened to be watching some TED videos and saw this one that I found quite interesting. Feel free to check it out and give your thoughts since it has to do with the internet and filtering of information. The video is from a few years ago but it goes to show how far things have continued to go in this pattern. Do you feel these new algorithms have made things better or worse?
