.mobi What does the auction mean for LLL's?

In light of the success of the Sedo dotMobi Auction, what will happen to the value of LLL.mobis? Many people are comparing the auction's results to .net prices...yet currently, LLL.net values are commanding prices 4x that of LLL.mobi's.

Can we expect LLL.mobi value to be making a nice jump in the near future?

Interested in hearing your opinions, as I still hold 19 (mostly good/decent) LLL's. :tu:

IMHO LLL.mobi prices as an asset class (with minor exceptions) have only one way to go - up, up and away!

LLL.mobi won't approach .net value for a long, long time I'm afraid.

Most of the names fetching .net-like prices are inherently "mobile-related". The others are more around .info (including LLL's) at the moment.

I'm surprised a bit by the recent dip in random LLL.mobi's, IMHO ... I think the auctions mean less for their future than the basic idea that there's a limited supply of them #1, and then urgent need to build out the .MOBI "ecosysem" and its public awareness #2. :blink: :imho:

I may have missed a development or two in some sub-niche, but I have been watching LLL.mobi prices since long before I joined this forum.

According to 3character.com (which does have its limitations but is the best source we have, especially for the random LLLs you referenced) the minimum price for the whole month of September did not dip below the $200 that was also the minimum price in August.

I also remember pretty clearly (I'm sure you'd correct me if I'm wrong) that the minimum price in August went up by $5 compared to July.

So what is this "recent dip in random LLL.mobi" prices you mentioned a couple of times today?

Again, it's totally possible I may have missed something - but please feel free to provide adequate details so we don't have to ask the same questions next month.

Thanks for the comments, everyone! Don't get me wrong, I don't expect LLL.mobi values to approach LLL.net values for a long time...if ever...I'm just wondering if y'all believe that the LLL.mobi values will be jumping anytime soon, etc.

Triple bad letter LLL.mobi were fetching ~ $150-$175 before this auction, so 3character is wrong there. The minimum wholesale would certainly not be under $150 -- seems many people are content to place $150 bids on LLL.mobis, regardless of their quality.

After this auction, I think we'll see them (bad combinations) go back up to a traditional $200 wholesale. The future looks bright :wave:

Thank you Reece, that makes sense to me because such a shocking increase in supply - and one that was so well known in advance to .mobi domainers - is bound to have affected the most liquid part of the market the most.
