Hello guys!
I have a question. I have found some sites through google ads and those sites contain of google adsence ads and nothing else. What does it mean? And why site owners do that?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

That should be against Adsense TOS. Owners may do it in order to receive revenue only, but they may get banned, especially if someone reports them.

you can use this email : [email protected]
to report it. they do investigate anyways.

It means it's an "arbitrage" site; they aim to buy traffic on low-cost terms and get clicks on higher-cost terms. There have been reports of Google cracking down on this in the last month or so, closing the accounts of those using this business model.

Sounds interesting. But do google moderate websites using adsence? It semm they are resell advertising and get profit.

To get an account, you need to have your website approved, but then you can show ads on any site you control without having it checked. This means that someone can get a good site approved, but then generate income from sites that wouldn't have been approved until they get caught (if they ever do get caught).

Arbitrage wasn't against the TOS originally (I'm not even sure if it is now, but it certainly isn't good for Google's advertising programme's image). New pricing for Adwords involving a quality score for landing-pages, and for AdSense (smart-pricing low quality clicks downwards) were partly intended to hit arbitrage sites hard, but were only partially successful.

Now it seems that Google have decided they can't beat arbitrage using algorithms and will have to cleanse their publisher-base manually.

What should be done to have approved site? As far as I understand brand new website can't be aproved in any case.

Maybe some of them don't know about it

Or some don't care

Or some are trying to be over smart. :)

Heya, quick question about that.....what if a owner has a google adword campaign running but displayes yahoo or msn ads??

( i am happy i found that thread here because i was planning to display some ads on one of my page with an adwords campaign and was not aware about the possible"arbitrage")

Cheers,

Frank

(P.S: if this is thread hijacking i will make my own thread)

To clarify: Just being an AdWords advertiser and an AdSense publisher doesn't make your site an arbitrage site. If you have good content then involvement in both programmes seems to be fine (I haven't had any problems yet). Arbitrage sites don't have good content; their sole purpose is to get their bought traffic to leave via ads.

Do you have content? If so no problem at all. If not, you need to read the TOS of your ad program. I'm not sure about Yahoo (don't participate in their program) but Google, if they noticed, would shut down your adsense account if that's all you had on your site, regardless of if you advertised somewhere.

Thanks WithWeb and dan_vt, yes i have a lot of content, and it would just be a temporary solution with adsense because my adspace will be premium after i reached a high PR :)

Cheers,

Frank
