I was wondering what Google thought about bid link directories. If you bid for link positioning could Google possibly frown upon this?

It's almost like buying a link isn't it? I was wondering because I recently launched a bid link directory and was wondering what my members have to worry about?

Does anyone know for a fact if this will negatively affect page rankings?

There are quite a few bidding directories out there with great page rank, so i don't see google devaluing any link on a bidding directory.

I think that all depend on the number of the links directory have. That is very important.

In my opinion, link too much is not a good method, google could search how many links you have,if you link to some useless web,it will be feed back with you.

The no follow really destroys the chances of doing well with a directory!

If the paid links are with nofollow tag, then it is ok, otherwise, Google do not link linking links.

Does Google really have the ability to sniff out all "nofollow" tag related links?

Sooner or later...

As mentioned unless you are using the no follow the big G will likely frown upon it. They'll simply nuke your own sites PR.
