.web could be a nice general purpose TLD.

.tel is nice too, if it actually lives up to the mission of replacing the numerical based telephone system with a name-based system. I think making people memorize completely unmeaningful and unmemorable telephone numbers to find people/entities is pretty primitive, don't you think?

I honestly don't think that yet another general gtld like .web is needed. I think that there are real target markets out there that should be addressed first. For example, .xxx or .sex would have a natural target market. I am not into that, but I do think that there is a natural market there. ICANN't has attempted this with target markets in the past, but they simply didn't think it through and came out with .museum and other stuff that did not have a viable market.

There are lots of ideas in the alternate root for the next tld's. Something like .kids would be nice and other alt root tlds like .inc, .law, .med, .arts, etc. that already have SOA (start of authority in alt root).

It's like building more houses in a city that already has a bunch of vacant houses.

Most premium .com's have been taken, so you go for the .net, .org, and other TLD's, maybe some ccTLD's. If more TLD's come out, now that's increased competition for your names.
