For quite sometime I have been interested in domaintools and how they store and manage to have quite access to all those data that they provide.

What database(s) do you think domaintools is using ?

There is no easy answer to this. There are no ready databases to copy. They crawl the web , they do data mining and they populate their databases. They have programmers, system administrators and they also use non-human resources (much ram, largw disks,high bandwidth connections). We are talking about big data here, if you know the term.
