What Are Your Thoughts About Foreign Character Extensions?

I know IDN's are slowly becoming more popular, but its still somewhat of an unknown territory to some. Personally I think it's an interesting market, most certainly something to take a look at least once.

We all know ICANN is playing with foreign character extensions, which in turn opens up a whole new market.

What I want to know is what you think about this subject. I never hear much about it from other people, thus I open this thread to discuss it.

Personally I already bought a lot of domain names regarding (not with ofcourse) foreign character extensions, but it seems no one is really caring about these future developments.

Please share your opinion.

There is tremendous interest... and once IDN.IDN is formalized it should be a hit. It is the most natural thing to provide extensions in the language of choice.

Of course it will probably be a slower market than IDN.com, but still valuable.

Edit: This thread should probably be in the IDN section...

Ok, that sounds great. I actually didn't really know what to expect of it, since IDN.IDN how you call it opens up such a large new market, that it could throw the entire domain world into chaos.

Here's a list of domains I registered. You might find it interesting. These domains are not specifically for the extension, but more for the complete domain in foreign character or language (IDN.IDN).

foreigncharacterdomain.com
foreigncharacterdomain.net
foreigncharacterdomain.org

...snip...

Some people thrive in chaos. :hehe:

I am looking forward to that. It looks like you are targeting the IDN reseller's market with that list.

Yeah, something like that, its not that anyone has use for them actually serving as a registrar or parking service, those would be in foreign characters I take :)

However, many are going to need some kind of entrance into this market, and that is where these domain names could come in handy.

I went with full keyword names, because that is what people will be looking for, at least the majority.

Also, all the names together as a package create more potential.

A gamble on the future, nothing more or less.
