Hi All,
We know, one registrant has launch great discount for registering new '.best' (dot best).
My knowledge is very limited about this extension. But I have tried to register some new names. Such as:

cap.best
bat.best
ham.best
dew.best
nap.best
tan.best
yap.best
night.best
morning.best

So What are yours?
And, Anyone can help me (or us) to explain how about the future prospects of this extension (dot best) for global market?

I have not been on Namepros much last couple of days so belatedly wanted to thank you for the superb detail re what is yet known re rollout @Cyril.Best. Glad to see that the Collision Conference in Toronto is on your list. If something comes along that you are doing an event in western Canada let me know.

Clearly stated that without .best promotion on GD main page - too little chances to meet any endusers.

As a classical registry, I would probably confirm your words that being on the home page at GD is the best. (by the way, we have a good and strong relationship with GD since our acquisition. They made a lot of effort to support us in our pricing transition).

That says, I want everybody here to understand that it's not/will not be our game.

I mean, the game for us will not to be on GD home page or any other registrar home (even if actually, of course, it helps to develop the .Best registration from that time as THE.Best social network is not yet live).

The game for us is to be on all App store Homepage. Apple app store & Google Play coz in a few weeks now, we will start to give a .Best domain to each user of our social network = to each user that will download THE.Best app and register.

I explain it earlier, the .Best game is THE.Best.

Our strategy is not to sell domains to domainers. Our strategy is to create a link between the domain name industry and the social network industry that will benefit to a full ecosystem of registrants including 3B social media users + domainers.

Means also that .Best Domainers have to change their internal software to understand that each .Best domain will be mainly used as a social media account (not as a website).

I tell you this: all TLDs that are not focusing on the usage of their TLD are collapsing and WILL DIE on a short or mid-term. Simply coz all domains bought without a real usage will not be renewed.

And it's already happening. When I am looking at our stats, I not only see that .Best is going up but also that others TLDs around us are going down because after 3 years without any usage of their TLDs, registrants are not renewing their domains anymore.

I say it before already but none will replace the .com in terms of usage for a website for instance.

And I am good with that coz this is absolutely not our strategy.

If you want to win the game as a new registry, you have to develop your own box, not just "think out of the box". In all fields, in all businesses, it's the same, usage is the game! and usage at scale is success.

You can buy cheap domains or renew cheap domains but if at the end of the day, if there is no usage, you will lose your money.

- None will replace the dotcom in terms of website usage (and we never want to).
- There is 145M dotcom domains VS +2B Facebook social media users
- There is 100M domain registrants VS +3B social media users

Thus far in 7 mos out of 22,000 unique visitors only received 1 offer for $20 :( and finally this week got offer of $100 :) on another dot-best

When I messaged him accepting the offer he replies he is not ready to buy it yet but possibly will in a couple weeks :(

I don't appreciate someone making an offer to buy today but not doing it. It's an example of the bad luck I had with dot-best and why at this time I plan to renew only 2.

Anyone else ever experienced this?

Sorry the sale did not complete. It seems from posts in other threads that many get almost daily nonpaying 'sales' Ive only had one and if I understand from marketplace the payment failed rather thsn not trying to pay. It was not in a .best or even a new gTLD that happened.

Hope you get another offer that completes soon.

Of course we all want it to succeed with the future social media promo but I must be straight with you Cyril since we already have a facebook, twitter and other social medias how in the world can you really expect to take business away from the 800 pound gorillas?

Thanks for your honest feedback and don't hesitate to challenge us, I never take it as negativity - all opinions matter for us.

So let me take the opportunity to explain the value proposition of THE.Best for end-users.

First, the same way that the .best registry is not a competitor of .com, THE.Best is not and will never be a competitor of FB, IG, Twitter, Tik Tok, Linkedin, ...

As you may know, all those social networks have between them also a different usage. For instance, you don't post the same content on Tik Tok than on Linkedin, etc ...

What is interesting in THE.Best specific case is that the type of content that will be post by our users is reviews.

So, basically it's more close to a Trip Advisor content than Twitter for instance. (by the way look at the way TA is transforming its own strategy to become also a social network with more user interactions)

So , First difference between THE.Best and TA : THE.Best is category-generic = you can review anything you want (not just only hotels, restaurants or attractions)

But the second and major difference on THE.Best user attraction with existing social networks is that we will REWARD users for their contributions = for their reviews!

As much as your reviews are read, clicked, liked, engaged, sponsored by brands as much money you make.

Plus, to prove again that we are not a competitor of FB, Twitter, Linkedin, ... but more a content partner with existing social medias we will help/encourage you to automatically share the reviews that you have create within THE.Best app on your existing social medias also.

So that the social media user winning process is: 1.You Review -> 2.You Share -> 3.You Earn

Lastly, the last part of the user value proposition is more "abstract" as it's only the problem of a portion of existing social media users (20%) and is related to data privacy and data responsibility.

By giving a .Best domain to host the content of each social media user (instead of just a sub-directory), we will also give back the ownership and the responsibility of the data to our users. This means that we also want to fight again fake reviews and/or bad content.

Now let me summarize it :

- THE.Best is the first social media to reward its users for their contribution (Get paid to review)

So of course, our target is not the same than FB. We don't expect to attract 2.5B users.

We have an internal target of 100M social media users in 5 years. (=100M domains)

It looks like crazy, isn't it? Especially in the domain name industry?

How this F***** Frenchy bastard and his .Best team could be able to realize the best progression in the domain name industry over the next years.

Now look at the data - coz data at scale don't lie :
- There 3B social media users worldwide. (not counting China)
- More than 1.6B internet users have already WRITE a review (not read a review)
- Youtube is the only rewarding platform and counts now 2B Monthly Active users.
- .TK offered a domain for free to 22M users without any reward, solution or brand protection
- THE.Best will give a .Best domain to each user with a complete App+website solution, Rewards, and a full brand protection for trademarks.

So yes, it's crazy but we want to go to 100M .Best domains!

Of course, I know that the game is hard and it will be, but the difference is that we don't consider the .best registry just as a simple registry business like many TLDs, and we will not operate it that way coz the .Best is so powerful that it is a brand on its own!

This is why, we have now already in just one year : go.best (the registry), brands.best (the brand protection), the.best (the social network).

But soon and beginning 2020 is also coming : education.best (giving a .best domains to all students), tv.best (the daily show of #askthebest), shop.best (the store of the .Best), ...

The global .Best project is huge. The .best team has been working on it for 2 years already before the .best acquisition. That's why I am always laughing when people are criticizing the .best coz they just consider it as a registry.

But of course, I totally understand a bunch of negativity and septicism around us as we are not yet even DAY1.

DAY1 will be 100K .best live domains + THE.Best social network in all app stores. And this should be around march 2020.

But before that, we have a first rendez-vous with the .best community where we will explain in detail the full .Best strategy, executions, innovation and milestones for the next months.
