Best solution: move the domain to hosting and either use your host's stats program (AWstats?) or install a quick free stats code that tracks referrer urls. The traffic is most likely a bot. Sometimes people set up bots to slam a bunch of sites. The webmaster then looks at their logs, says "why am I getting traffic from THAT site?". They visit the site, and now the person has one more visitor.

Thanks for your help, I will check into that..does this happen often on sites that are parked too?

most probably someone's attacking your site with an autoclicker.

I've never had it happen on my sites AFTER they were parked. But there are many ways these people can get a hold of your domain name, parked or not.

Not exactly the same issue as you, but I have a couple of domains in particular that get very random, sporatic traffic. One of them for instance, will average 2-3 clicks and .25 to .50 per day pretty consistently, but randomly (2 or 3 days per month) it'll get 50 to 100 clicks or more for $20-$80 or more. In fact just a couple of days ago I hit $95, and I have no clue what is going on, although i'm not going to complain. My only worry is that the parking company will think i am trying to cheat them, but so far so good, most of the clicks are from south america and indonesia.

When that happens to me, I report it as abuse. This way my parking company knows I'm trying to stay "above board".

Sometimes it can be genuine traffic, seo reshuffling etc...

From a pessimists point of view all of us might be exposed to such autoclicker attacks but being optimists we can think of a brand new and popular website which typos and mispellings are driving traffic :music:

There's a good chance someone has just launched or advertised a new site that is very similar to yours, when a sudden increase in traffic happens I usually check these 3 things first.

Check to see if the same name has recently been registered in another extension ? eurodns.com is a good place to check multiple extension.

Type your domain into whois.sc, then look at the box in the bottom right hand side of the page - You may be able to see a similar domain to yours and will be able to see when it was registered. If so, you can do a whois to see who owns that. (this is also handy if you're looking for people to sell to)

If the name is a two worder, type "the name" into Google news to see if anything shows up.

Checking these things can provide usefull information occasionally, well...they sure have for me

Good luck and I hope the traffic continues !

It is likely that it might rank well now for a term in a major search engine.

Thanks for your help, I am now getting clicks as well with this..I searched and I came across a few sites with the Same exact name in them. One was created in 2006, and one in 2007.. Could this be why I got so many offers too all of a sudden?

From your experience if someone really wants a name, will they pay your asking price eventually , if its reasonably priced ? Thanks again
