What am I doing wrong?

Hello,

I would like to know where and what is my mistake.

First at all... I have a domain with 10.000 uniques/month... all of them from type-in traffic.

It was parked in Sedo... generating around $8/month. I move it to Namedrive and I got slighty less income monthly so I put it back to Sedo.

One week ago, I parked it at AFD... and I was pleased... I was doing almost a couple bucks by day... so I decide to put a minisite on it.. which I did yesterday.

My site is a dot com.ve version of a venezuelan goverment website (the National Electoral Council, a gob.ve site).

Well... I made a minisite, consisting of 15 content pages + automatically update venezuelan political news from Google News, in spanish.

I made what I think are good Adsense channels (CNE for the site, HEADER, SIDEBAR and BODY for location and 125x125, 468x60, etc for size).

I leave it alone and now, 24 hours later, I checked my Adsense stats and this is what I found:

Page impressions: 391.
Earnings: THREE FUDGING CENTS!!!!
My own stats shows around 150 unique visitors.

So... What in heavens am I doing the wrong way?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Your content is probably distracting from your ads.

It's a nice looking site, but it will probably never do well in AdSense. The people who are interested in a news site aren't necessarily interested in buying something or clicking on ads. Oh, a few might - but if shopping for goods or services of some kind isn't a focus of your site, you're not going to make much.

Very nice work on the site, maybe your homepage is a bit too 'busy'. The less there is to browse, the more chance they will click on your ads. Just a possibility and maybe worth thinking about. Good luck.

Thanks for your comments.

I clean it up a little bit (get ride of the featured content).

I hope it improves... Let's see how it goes.

You have to start thinking like your target audience.

Who is going to want to come and look at your site?

Does your site do anything to capture people in a buying cycle? (hint - the sites that do are the ones that make money. Not so much the ones that merely aggregate information)

Hey,

Well... I tried to explain the nature of that domain: 100% of its traffic is type-in, people pretending to go to the goverment site (except, the people going there from this thread, of course).

That said, obviously 100% of the people to reach that site is willing to look for electoral information.

When it was parked at sedo, it has a CTR of around 6-7% with a EPC of 2c...

When it was parked at AFD, or the CTR was of 15-20% or the EPC was around 5c... not sure, given that AFD only gives Page impressions and Earnings, not clicks.

All I want is people clicks on the ads... I don't want them to buy anything: Just click.

So if they click on the ads of a parked page I though they could click on an informative site... giving me a better EPC.

Does it makes sense or I just have to leave it a AFG?

Then you're better off having a parked page.

If you're not interested in people buying anything, only clicking, then pretty soon you'll be smartpriced by Google - looks like you already have. The advertisers want GOOD traffic that buys things. Not traffic that just clicks and wastes their money.

People just looking for information - and finding it - have no reason to click at all.

So turn it back into a parked page.

with 10K UV per day, you should be at a premium parking service, not Sedo and such.

Which one would you recommend me?

For a mysterious reason Parked does not want to accept me.
